The BoSux aren't due for another World Championship until 2092.
I was watching a Mets/Cards game this week and saw this on their caps. I think they have the same patch on their shoulder.
I don't recall any other team doing this in the past. Maybe I've missed it. Seems a little "in your face" for most ball players.
Wonder how long they'll keep it on before they remove it. They're 0-3, may be sooner than later...
So far, so good for The Kid. Five Ks, one hit, no runs, ten in a row retired through four innings.
Agreed, it is in poor taste. But, Cardinals taste like chicken; ask any Mets fan. Myself included.
Ya know, poor Billy Buckner has taken such a hard rap for that '86 fiasco that he got sorta depressed. Well, more like seriously depressed. in fact, after a few years of putting up with all the malignment by the press, the fans, etc. he decided to end it all.
The next morning, he gets up and heads into the city. He goes to subway, stands by the tracks, and at the last moment, throws himself on front of the train as it comes through the station.
Moments later, bewildered, he realizes he is lying on his back between the rails. Seemed he missed the train, it went straight between his legs, sparing him......:huh
Happy Dice-K Day, everybody!
Matsuzaka's line in his debut:
7IP, 1R (earned), 6H, 1BB, 10K 108P/74S
Not too shabby!
Is it too early to start worrying about Varitek and Crisp? Two automatic outs in the lower third of the order isn't going to fly anywhere in the American League, let alone the Eastern Division.
I'm 3-0 and the first fucking game I lose is to the motherfuckin' reds
Maybe a little too early to worry about that, but still a concern. Varitek is a fabulous catcher, but he's never been a huge producer at bat, and last season was pretty lousy for him. Let's just hope that he gets into the "swing" of things and starts making some contact. I get the impression that he is just as frustrated w/ his lack of offense as we are. Crisp... I don't know. It seems like he also needs to build some confidence and find his groove and that he'll start getting hits.
If not, a re-working of the line-up might be in order.
If I were managing this team, I'd have Crisp batting second. That's where Cleveland had him most of the time, and he's well over .300 lifetime hitting out of the two hole. He'd see a lot more fastballs with Papi right behind him in the order, and Coco's a dead fastball hitter. Moving Youkillis down to the sixth spot would help to protect Drew, as well. Are you listening, Tito?
Let's get one thing perfect clear.
With the exception of Fairfield county Connecticut is ok. (barely)
All the communities from New Haven south to the NY line are now the Long Island of New England and as far as I am concerned they should just start calling themselves New Yorkers.
You can thank Greenwich, Ct. for the McMansion.
My grandmother passed away a two years ago and her estate was recently settled. The house they had for over 40 years sold for four fucking million dollars. 24 hours after closing the demolition started.
When my father sold his house and fled to Vermont Hanna Storm and her husband bought his old place. The first thing they did was erect an 8' high iron bar fence around the entire property in a neighborhood where nobody's burglar alarm has ever sounded in anger. Hell they probably tore the house down by now which would be a shame, it was modest and shared a lot of traits that K-Basa's place has but compared to a McM is was a shitbox if impressing the Khans is your thing.

"How ya doin'! Can you pitch at all?"
"Nice to see ya. Ever thrown a baseball before?"
"Thanks for coming out, ma'am. Hey! You're a lefty..."
"Hi, Ichiro? Yeah, this is Dice-K. I just wanted to call and let you know that I have your number."
Teammates in '08. You read it here first.
