I know this is an older post, but I was wondering if it's possible to ride Knoxville OHV area? Gates open / closed ? I have a map of the area, but have never ridden there. Any recent ride reports from there? thanks

I think you can hit them all in one day.

Tried to ride Rieff/Rayhouse after Sand Creek yesterday.

Water in Cache Creek is so high that the low-water-bridge on the Capay side is impossible to cross.

The bridge can not even be seen under the water and the current over it is probably at about 10-15 mph.....that's FAST and carries a LOT of force.

For anyone that does not understand water and curents, the water on the downstsream side of the bridge will be acting like a giant "tumble dryer" only with water.

This bridge posses what I'd consider an EXTREME DANGER to anyone uninformed enough to try to ride across it.....really....when the current knocks you off, you most likely will not surface on the downstream side for a long-long time (you'll be caught in the tumble-dryer)

Give this one a rest until the water drops.

Dunno if the west side gate is open or closed since I used another route.

I was up there a month ago. The gate was closed and it didn't look like it was ever going to open. There is a way around it though.:augie

The western gate at the Lake/Yolo county line is supposed to open after the wet season. The gate and lock are owned by Yolo County. Dates have never been published.

Last time I was up there, I scouted that go-around. Looked like something that is best done with a smaller bike, or with other folks around, IMHO. It'd be nice if they opened the gate soon.

This would be an OK ride from the Knoxville/Berryessa Rd side down to the creek and back.

But....don't look for the water level in the creek to fall for at least the next few weeks so using this as a "through" route should be out of the question.

The area around the reservoir is a nice place to stop. If I decide to head up there the first part of next week I'll post a day or two in advance.

I'll be taking the DRZ, not the bigger bikes.

The west gate is open, and the sign says that it will close for the season Oct. 15. That might be an old sign, though.

We took a ride out here today. The causeway on the Capay Valley side is again high and dry, but rain this week might change that. The road is in better shape than I remember. There is a large tree across the trail not far from the causeway on the Capay side but we had no trouble going UNDER it on our 250s.

Does anyone have any information on the campground facility in here? I hadn't gone that way at the four corners junction before. The road in that direction is pretty washed out in a few spots but still OK for most any bike. The campground looks like it hasn't been used forever, but the vault toilets don't look much more than about ten years old. I guess this is BLM land (?) - maybe since the road isn't being maintained by the county anymore, the campground is just going to be left alone?

    Who need knobbies?

I almost detoured up Reiff road today, on my way up to Mendo NF. I did discover that there are still a lot of snowed in roads up there. . . .
