Remus Revolution: how do i remove the baffle?

    hello folks,

    does anyone here have the remus revolution slip on? i dont have the instructions and i wanted to remove the baffle to see if i like the sound.

    does anyone know how to remove the baffle and how difficult it is?
    and by removing it, does it effect HP/performance?

    You need to drill the rivet out at the tail pipe.
    Be VERY careful. The hole where the rivet is, is threaded and you will need to replace the rivet with a bolt when you replace the baffle. There should have been a bolt supplied with the muffler when you bought it. If not, you need an allen head cap screw. Sorry, don't know the thread size.
    Or you can do what I did, and rivet it back in. I discovered there was not a noticable difference in sound or performance.

    A friend has a Remus on his Wee-Strom and it was major struggle to get it out. Even after drilling out the rivet it took major muscle to pull the baffle.

    When I put a Remus on my FZ1 it came with the baffle out and I was supllied with a rivet and instructions on putting it in. You just never know:dunno :dunno

    thanks for the replie's guys! looks like it's going to be a struggle to pull the baffle out and having to drill the rivet out make's me a little nervousl

    any other input would be most appreciated.

    If your Remus not different from one I worked with:
    1. Do not drill, but file rivet ends out with Dremel then carefully tape rivet out.
    2. Remove can from bike and push baffle out from other side using big wooden stick and hammer. I used broomhandle. Need to be accurate not to damage internal tube, but it comes out rather easy.

    thanks for the reply! that seems like a good idea, rather than drilling out the rivet. how difficult is it to take the can off the bike? is it just a matter of loosening the bracket?

    Well, usually depends on each type/model of bike and exhaust, but if it is just slip on - yes, loose bracket or bracket-s and slide it off link pipe/header.

    My F800GS has a Remus Revolution pipe, the previous owner threw away the baffle. Anybody got one available?

    I've tried locally and the importer is uesless.

    My Remus HexaCone didn't have a rivet. Remus used a single, small spot-weld to hold the baffle bolt in place. I took a sharp chisel and cut through the weld.

    In my opinion, removing the baffle isn't worth the effort , at least in the case of the HexaCone. I found there's barely any difference in the tone or volume of the muffler between the baffle being in or out. Consequently, I ended up putting the baffle back in because the end of the muffler looks better with it in place.
