I'd love to do the sactopits events. I'm not sure I'll be up on my ama stuff by then tho.
Let's go! I'm in Spanish springs and real close to Moonrocks
The schedule is posted. I'm going to be hitting as many events as possible.
Beta 300 4t. Never tried the competition thing. Just amazed at these guys that ride up stuff that I'd have a hard time climbing with out a bike. I'd like to try a competition, but at this point I need to start at square one.
I'd suggest at least coming to an event and spectating. There are lines available for all levels of skill. From, I can start the motorcycle and ride in a relatively straight line - to, I can climb anything you put in front of me - and everything in between. We all start at square one in trials no matter how long we've been riding other types of motorcycles. That's the beauty of it. I'd say I'm at square one-point-two
Any of you local guys ride single track with your trIAls bike? I'm down in the south end of town, but I'm itching to re-explore the area on the new bike when it comes in. Loads of areas to re-explore. I have a feeling there's a whole lot more terrain that just opened up with this style of riding.
I've been on some of my trails with the trials bike. It's fun but the suspension doesn't keep up quite as well as my ktm obviously but it's still fun. Most of the cool stuff is snow covered or wasted by rain ruts. I'll be riding mine thru rubicon and Fordyce this year and hopefully Barrett lake trail as well.
I'd totally recommend attending the British American Cup, March 4-5 in Copperopolis, CA. Its held in an old Copper mine and its one of the most unique locations we get to ride in all year. Lots of cool natural terrain combined with manmade ruins make for a surreal spot to ride. Friday night we'll all be at the tavern in town for darts, pool and BS. Saturday night we'll hang around the campfire and be social. Im camping Friday and Saturday, feel free to come hang with us! Adrian Lewis, our Vertigo importer and owner of Lewisport is one of the organizers and his shop is just down the road for any spares, or even new bikes you might need.
I did my first event the week after I picked up my first trials bike. No joke I had maybe two hrs on the bike. I rode Saturday and checked Sunday. I found checking helped me greatly in my understanding of the scoring system and rules. I received a TON of pointers on technique, body position and bike setup. It was also a great way to me my new riding buddies with the club. They even paired me up with a gentlemen to follow through the loop (Buschog can attest to Paul's helpful nature). I think every checker had a tip for me as well as a high five for coming out. The only barrier to entry is the trials bike and y'all have that all covered. Ride in jeans, full face and work boots if necessary.
Saturday events are a little more mellow and offer some very easy lines, perfectly suited to the brand new rider. This particular event will offer a "gate trial" on Saturday (more info on gate trials - http://www.wmta.us/scoring.html).

Heres a few more photos of the location for drooling purposes...
Just a reminder to the Reno crew. First event of the season is this weekend. Weather looks great for Saturday. I'll be there, so no one else has to worry about being the worst rider.
How was it? Had to work all weekend cause of the storm.
It was a great time. I only stayed for Saturday because of the storms as well.
If you've never ridden with PITS I strongly urge you to give it a go. Very friendly folks.
Hey Buschog, do you have a pic of you in gear on bike?
I checked the shoot house on Saturday and I'm wondering which rider you were.
My wife took a couple as I was going into section 5 - but that's all I have
You seriously put a see-saw in the section?
The see-saw was actually quite fun and not nearly as hard as I though it'd be. I did lose my balance on it in one loop, but I was able to goose it and jump myself and the bike off to the side continuing on through the section.
Unseen is the car that was also in the section just to the left of the picture. I didn't have the cajones to give that one a go.
Late notice but me and a buddy will be at moonrocks today at 430 ish for a few hours
Wish I could join you but the J.O.B. gets in the way sometimes
I had a good vantage point for the totter and car, what I called the Ghetto Section. Odd to see it after coming off the green grass hills.
Three of us were watching a noob, commenting how he was doing well for his first trials, when he paused on roof of the car, and lost his balance. Too close to the edge to put a foot down, he toppled over, the bike blowing the back window in with a loud pop, impaling himself on a piece of rebar sticking out of the ground and twisting his ankle.
He bounced back and rode the next day.
It was my first competition as well.
So you were checking section 2? I only scored there once, on my last trip through.
