For long trips, a cheaper solution is to go to a bicycle shop and get a pair of padded riding shorts for $30-$50. Makes a big difference IMO.

As a long time road cyclist, I second that.. I always wear two pairs of padded shorts when I ride my bicycle these days.. no offence to Lance, but I like to keep my balls, and they are worth far more than $100 pair of bicycle shorts to me.
I also stand up on my LC4 Adventure every few miles when I ride long distance, no just stand up and sit back down, but stand for a whole mile if you could.. lean into the wind, straighten out the knees, hop on one peg.. don't just sit on the bike..

KTM sells a comfort seat for your bike. It's an improvement and not very expensive. Search this forum for the many other options.

The low cost fix for my 02 was to get a seat for the 03. It's a good improvement, but I don't think it's the final solution. Gonna send my old seat to Todd Sargeant in Jax. He's done work for me before and it's been excellent. Runs about $250 for the job, but when I can scrape the coin up that's where I'm spending my cash. I'll never give Mike Corbin another dime. Been screwed by him before, he's definitely not the same guy who started the company. He used to be about customer service, but that's long gone now.

Heard good things about Bill Mayer, but haven't tried his stuff yet. Saw a pic here a few months ago of a seat he did for an AdvR, and it looked comfy. If you're close to him it would be worth a look.

Man that Rich's seat looks comfy. It looks like it kicks the ride height an inch or so. It looks like it's what I want. Thanks Mack.

My seat is much happier these days! I can vouch for Rich O'Conners handiwork. The only downside is that your a** is so damn comfortable that you start to notice other annoying ergonomic problems with the Adventure...but that's progress, I guess.

I fitted a '03 seat to my '02 Adventure and found that I didn't notice much change. The fitted a 'Stich sheepskin comfort pad to the '03 seat and was again disapointed with the result.

I have just got an AirHawk http://www.therohogroup.com/recreational/index.jsp pad which was expensive but what a result :nod :nod . I just had a long weekend away with Mrs KTiM on the bike and did 500+ miles with the AirHawk and no problems at all, that numbing feeling that used to start to be felt after about 30 mins. just didn't show up at all. I'm happy :lol3

I only have about 50 miles on it so far. Don't foresee sliding back being a problem. The only problem I see is since its wider. It makes it harder to touch the ground.
