No sooner than I read this post yesterday - my power went out too. Still out. I'm sitting at Panera typing this. At least it's nice out and not hot like yesterday.

I bought a 1 terrabyte hard drive from Costco a few years ago that I use with my mac. Forgot the brand. Apple's Time Capsule, or whatever it is called, just takes over and does all the back ups. It is a mirror, I guess, of my mac's hard drive so it does not free up space for me, but maybe I should do it differently.

I started making a video of "the ride". It was taking a while so I switched gears and started working on just the highlights of the ride. I pulled the highlights and it was about 27 minutes alone. I am trimming that down a little and getting it sorted. I should have that finished pretty soon. It is going to be a good video. With shots like bikes leaping out of creeks attacking innocent bystanders like flying piranha, how could it not be awesome?

Well, unfortunately St. Clements island is out:cry
Turns out they are not offering transport this year until the first weekend of July rather than June. Bummer, that trip will have to wait.

Ours came back about 4:30 long enough for the transformer to blow again. About 6 am they got it fixed.

I wish. Not a road I would ever take but better than peering at the nice weather from indoors.

The wife and I are meeting Todd and Nichole at Seneca Shadows campground (Seneca Rocks WV) Saturday morning for some R&R. Mostly pavement but we plan to visit Sinks of Gandy which is on a gravel road. If the water is not too high ... we plan to walk from one entrance to the other, through the cave. If anyone is in the area and wants to ride or explore Sinks let me know or look for us at the campground. We are leaving Richmond at 6:00 am tomorrow morning on the big bike. Todd is already there.

I'm jealous. I need some serious R&R and haven't been able to get WV out of my mind since Laurel Fork. Have fun and be safe at the sinks. :D

The Sinks are on private property but the upstream side is not posted. The landowners graciously allow us on their land to view the entrance but you need the landowners permission to explore the cave.

The land around the exit is posted with these:

Also, if you're going to be entering any cave you should be aware of White-nose syndrome (WNS). It has killed and is still killing millions of bats.

All caves in the Monongahela NF and most private caves were closed at one time because of this. Not sure if they still are. They believe people are partly to blame for the spread of WNS.

Many years ago my former company gave me a Dell Latitude D610 (my old computer) when they were going though an upgrade. It came with a docking station, which was great because it really came in handy out in the garage. Unfortunately, it came with no back-up or restore disks for the Win XP Pro that was installed on it.

A week or so ago, the HD on the machine finally took a dump. From everything I have read, this one lasted a heckofalot longer than most. I found a used, but guaranteed, 20 gig drive for $29 and decided to take a chance and give it a try. I installed the drive yesterday, the machine’s set-up recognizes it, but that is as far as I can go.. so that’s where it sits.

If anyone out there has the knowledge to help me get this machine going again, I’d certainly appreciate it.

Please PM me if you think you can help.

The Noob Patrol rode just north of the York River yesterday. Beautiful country.
