I have a place in my hear for Mendelssohn
right now, with the last sip of a good brew, I am closing out the perfect weekend with my loving wife.
Oh, and holding 3 T-O-R's (Richmond, Va., and the new Greater Williamsburg tags.(hat trick?)..don't hurt either....shoulda made the H/R tag... but I was cought up in the moment, and wanted to give momma 2 good meals today... What a weekend..... don't get any better than that....priceless.
Well, it's been WAY more than one day, but finally....
yes, FINALLY, we have light!
I'm not so sure why this has taken so long. I guess I'm better at dreaming than doing. (Well, no guessing required here. I'm a dreamer!)
It's amazing how small this garage has become as time has gone on. But, the light looks good, and the Red Haired Mistress is happy in her abode.
She'll soon be crowded as the 55 goes in for a refresh and some much needed repairs and enhancements. The last 7 years living in God's great outdoors has not been kind to the old girl. Recently, she's been a little moody. Backfiring through the carb, running rich, and being generally contrary.
But soon, she'll get the attention she deserves. Then, she'll be thoroughly flogged.
I'm hopeful that the industrial/commercial T-8 lights perform in a manner worthy of the hefty price tag I paid for them.
We're coming along. I'll sand, prime, and paint my "new to me" cabinets next week. I'll also try to get the block primed and painted, as well as finishing the walls & ceilings. Maybe 3 weeks before I'm moved in.
Hmm..... Maybe we need to put some brisket, shoulder, and ribs in the smoker and have a few ADV'ers over soon!
Tonight is hard tomorrow will be even harder. I'm gonna have to bring my German Shep to the vet to be put down. It breaks my heart but she has gotten worse and is now urinating on herself. It was selfish of me to keep her in this condition as long as I did. The vet wanted to wait another 4-6 weeks to see if she gets better ....my wife called and talked to the owner (older vet) and he agreed there is nothing we can do and it is time.....
My wife and kids have said good byes and there is not a dry eye here .........
Thanks for listening
I am about to go through the same anguish. Every day I see Lucky slip a little closer to the edge. As bad as it is to face this, it would be worst to have missed the companionship of a great friend that asked nothing in return. My deepest condolences.
Chris, as mentioned before, I've been through this (twice) before and can fully understand what your family is going through. Our "pets" are just as much a part of the family as a child, and they know they're loved just as much. We can't truely "talk" to them, but we do anyway and they seem to know what we're saying and all the emotions that go with it.... they really do. I "talk" to my son's dog every day. I just wished he could talk back, as he was the last one to see him alive. I really would like to know to what happened that day.
Guy you are a very strong person and I admire your strength more then you can imagine!
Gee wiz, hate to hear it.
It's tough saying goodbye to an old friend that gave you years of unconditional love, they truly are a member of the family. She had to always rely on you to make the right decisions for her and now you have to make the hardest one yet. You're doing the right thing hang in there and comfort the kids it's hell on them especially. I feel for ya man.
That's tough Chris. All of us who love animals have most likely been through this before. Some of us have experienced it many times. It's funny the way some of these special companions touch us so deeply.
My thoughts will be with you tomorrow.
Godspeed my friend.
My condolences Chris.
Yeah what timing.... ii came home with Abby from the vet and used my tractor to dig her final resting place.... when i covered her up and put the tracor in the garage a huge bolt of lightning showed and it started to pour....kinda like her last hoorah!
She will be missed. Thx everyone for the mkind thoughts..
Yea, sorry to hear about your dog Chris..
Just realize you've done the right thing for her. Try not to look for her too much in the coming days. You will. I still look for my two sometimes.
Dogs are truly man's best friends. I hate having to say goodbye to them. Hug your family and think how much she loved you and how happy she was always to see you.
There's some folks in DC that need to watch/listen to this:

I'll take it if you deliver it to my house.
If you don't want to take it to King William you can bring it to Harrisonburg.
