Hello people! Ok im new to this forum but i have been reading about all your adventures for the past couple of months :) anyway now i want to have my adventure but unfortunately i dont know any bikers!!

Im planning to do some Euro trips and then hopefully build up to a World Trip, and i would prefer to have a travel buddy. Someone fun to travel with, able to look after themselves and there bike, preferably good with a wrench! I want to be able to go off the beaten track hence why i have recently bought myself a BMW F800GS and so would hope that my travel buddy has a similar type of bike. I live in West London, if your up for going for a ride out let me no. The more people the merrier :freaky

Hey Butcher - welcome to your new adventure!

You will probably find a group of fellow Londoners lurking in the forums of Adventure Bike Rider magazine - it's a UK publication and I'd recommend subscribing - great mag (I'm not affiliated in any way, just a fan). They have a web site at:

    http://www.adventurebikerider.com/

If you are willing to use the F800 as a proper Dual Sport and get it dirty then sign up with the TRF and find a local group that you can go "green laning" with. I'm in Surrey and the Surrey regional group is very, very active with multiple ride-outs every weekend. I also ride an F800GS but am not fond of mud so I tend only to ride green lanes in the summer months. Having said that, I had a fantastic ride-out at the end of November around the Hampshire lanes with a bunch of 8 other blokes. You will find that Salisbury plains are also a big attraction for big dual sport bikes and you should be prepared to ride at least an hour or two out of London in order to get proper dirty. The TRF web site is here:-

    http://www.trf.org.uk/

Another bunch of lads that put on monthly events that are suitable for bike bikes (you will find there are many motorcross tracks but few big trail bike areas around London) is the BLORC. They put on rides in Bagshot that give you an opportunity to test out your off-road skills with the safety of having support vehicles and loads of people around to help you out and give you tips - take a look at the "Offoad Driver/Rider pay and play events" section of their web site - you don't need to join as you can pay on the day:-

Finally, as you have bought a BMW, it would be rude not to join the UK's biggest BMW web site - where you will find loads of people to ride with - day trips and lifetime trips - tar or dirt - it's all there:-

I hope this helps - have fun and enjoy your bike - I've had mine since 2009 and I still have a grin every time I throw my leg over it :-)
