Today we ventured to Clarksdale, MS.

We did several stops around town.

    Hopson Plantation/Shack-Up Inn.

    The Crossroads.

Ground Zero Blues Bar (wanted to try their tamales but didn't think they would be open).

We then went to several other hot tamale places (Hicks, Larry's, Ranchero) and found them all closed.

We had passed Abe's and knew it was open so we went back there.

The tamales were fair - a little bland but still better than Fat Mama's. Not quite as good as the White Front Cafe. Well below Solly's and the Onward Store.

We had a fun 330-mile battle with the winds of the Mississippi delta today.

Found some new tamales at a place that was already one of my favorite restaurants.... Soulshine Pizza Factory

I had seen other get tamales there, so I decided to try them last night!

    Homemade Hot Tamales
    1/2 dozen — $7.99 Dozen — $13.99

Available plain, or with the following: Chili, cheese, jalepenos, onions, and a few other toppings I can't remember.

The above pic was just jalapenos and cheese. They had good flavor and consistency, but were a bit dry. Probably should have added chili to them. Put a little hot sauce on them and they were good.

Not by motorcycle, but I stopped in Corinth, MS for some Dilworth's Tamales this weekend. Taste was very good, but I've never eaten a tamale that was the size of a pencil. I got a half dozen for us to eat with our White Trolley slug burgers. Could have eaten 6 plus a slug burger without over doing it.

    Thanks for the recommendation Mouth.

Oh man, they are pretty good, the last batch I brought home was pretty salty, so maybe they vary a bit. ( I always get the HOT ones) which arent really all that hot.

There are a few other shops I think selling slug burgers in that area, Ive not had any as good as white trolley though. But only sampled a few really, its too easy to get the real deal

dang, makes me want a slug burger and some tamales.

Ours were a little salty but really good.

The folks at White Trolley let us bring our tamales in to eat with our slug burgers - I didn't know Dilworth's was drive through only. I got the deluxe with cheese while my daughter got a regular. We carried 4 more to Memphis so my siblings could sample them at our get together. They were a hit.

I didn't take any Dilworth's since I already had 3 dozen Solly's tamales in the cooler for that night's enjoyment.

You have inspired me, I had honestly forgotten about this thread.

I have since found some new Hispanic style tamales here in Fayetteville, I will ride the 2 miles to the store and buy some and try hold off long enough to photograph them to make a report.
    :D
I have not eaten INSIDE the white trolley in probably 25 years.

The wife and kids returned from a Corinth visit just a few weeks ago, but they brought no Dilworths Tamales back with them.
    shameful.

Cool. I like to try different styles - it's tough though since i't only eaten tamales in Vicksburg for the last 30 years so I'm biased.
