I know that spot well. That article is a mystery to me because the highway there is completely divided with the referenced store literally in the median. You can't turn left across traffic from oncoming lanes and the far left lanes at that store are turning lanes for median crossovers. But traffic through there is a bastard.

Anyway, my condolences to you and the rider's family. That one hits pretty close to home for me.

Maybe the driver made the turn from the wrong lane?

    RIP, Jonathan.

Could be, traffic is crazy bad through there and generally hauling ass. Plus Crain Highway is kind of unusual because the north and south bound lanes are so far apart. Businesses through there are actually located in the median and the highway department has all kind of lane channelization stuff up and down that stretch of highway. You never know WTF people are going to do through there. Not my favorite place to ride.

    RIP.

Just looking at that overhead scares me; of course, I live 10 miles from a gallon of milk...not a lot of traffic out here.

    My condolences as well.

That area is just plain horrible in terms of traffic, even for cars. Sadly, the county is allowing ever more commercial development along that corridor so it's only getting exponentially worse. I try to avoid that area at all costs.

The article doesn't say anyone turned left. Just that she was crossing Crain Hwy and hit the motorcyclist in the far left lane.
