RIP fellow rider They dismembered the body.
I was about to ship a girl's jeep with his boyfriend out from Panama to Cartagena. Everything was made through email, contact , booking, etc.. everything was ready to be shipped.
Next , the emails started to bounce back for several days. The return mails showed their inbox full………..never ever the communications went back and never heard of them again .
I 've shipped another guy in his 50's a few years ago too. He was in a rampant rush leave to Colombia on adventure on his bike. The matter is, his wife contact me weeks after he left to Colombia, where he never reported back to her. Time passed and nothing.
The guy was having an affair in Colombia and want to disappear from the face of the earth. The matter is, he left his wife broke, with a mortgage without pay. No funds in the bank and a terrible sad poor wife.
I helped her until the end, we even contacted the American embassy in Colombia. All he did at the end was claiming being riding, no money and praying to god for his life. What a son of ……!!!!
This is a lesson to everybody when they are riding, driving or biking between countries. Leave a word, for good or for bad ,but leave a message of your final whereabouts or decisions.
Most of you are at young age., adventurous and perhaps irresponsible. I was like that perhaps, today I am 57 and adventurous too but with a different eye.
Who knows what happen to this girl. Who knows the details of what happen with Harry. I can just say to all of you, there is a family that care, parents, wife, children, girl or boyfriend.
Don't be a lone ranger in your life. Havecommon sense.
And this has what to do with this thread???
Don't forget. The only thing that can be posted here is
Passenger pegs down for Harry.
Prayers for strength and comfort for the family and friends.
I'll be passing through Guerrero in the coming weeks, solo, en route to South America and I'll be thinking about Harry,,, que descanse en paz.
Harry Devert Case: A Mother's Search Ends...
Saturday, July 26, 2014 | Borderland Beat Reporter Chivis
by Chivís Martínez for Borderland Beat
Note: I may write a follow up article, I am allowing Ann Devert to orchestrate if , how much ,or what is shared, with respect to further information. I know readers will understand, it is the least that I can do for my friend. If you are moved to send a message to Ann and her mother, please do so via comments or email, I will be sure she receives them. firstname.lastname@example.org
Earlier DNA results were positive, but not as conclusive to the protocol standard required. The forensics results that Ann was given last night was of a comprehensive 24 match DNA testing which resulted in a 99.9963% match.
Ann Devert's search ends in Mexico City where Harry's remains were transferred from Guerrero.
Her words today:
"There is no doubt this is Harry, my beloved son, Harry whose life was filled with delight, Harry whose boundless joy grew from the good times he shared with you, his friends, his companions, his allies, his heart. Harry carried each of us in his vast heart. And because there is a place for Harry in each of our own hearts, because that place is Harry's still, Harry is alive because YOU are alive. "ALIVE!, Ma!!!" he would say to me. "How great is that?!!"
"I ache from missing my son who was Life's great gift to me......"
Damn, Gaston: this is actually well said. I was always hoping that he was just trying to disappear.
Prayers for strength and comfort for the family and friends.
For those wishing to pay respect and celebrate Harry's life:
A New Yorker has traveled back to New York from Mexico.
And so has his Mom. I am now working on the New York service to celebrate Harry's life and his legacy. I will let you know where and when that will be as soon as it is arranged. I'm aiming for it to be Saturday, August 16th, but need confirmation. One thing I am hoping is that everyone present will be part of a group picture in Harry's pose at the conclusion of the service. If those of you who plan to attend could let me know at my email address, that would give me an idea of how many to plan for.
Please keep sending pictures and please know how grateful I am to you for sticking by Harry, by me and by each other.
Friends. As Harry would say, "How great is that?!"
- Ann, Harry's Mom
Is that his moms words? If not, do you know the general location in NY?
Yes, it's from Harry's mom. The details have not been set yet.
(Details from the Help Find Harry Facebook page)
Location: Pelham, NY (just outside New York City)
Plans for Saturday, August 16th.
Saturday, August 16th at 10:00 in the morning the service of celebration for the life of Harry Russell Edouard Devert will be held in Chester Park, between Maple, Walnut, Birch and Chestnut Avenues in Pelham, New York. There will be a reception afterwards, a gift of Harry's friends the Julianos. "What a family!!!"
Before lunch there will be a group picture of us all in Harry's signature pose in Harry's "back yard", Chester Park. If you too would care to bring a beverage or fruit or a dish to the reception as some have asked to do, that would be a welcome tribute to Harry's appetite but know that the meal that awaits you will be delicious, as all who have experienced Juliano's hospitality can attest.
There is a zero percent chance of rain Saturday. The forecast is partly sunny with a high of 81 degrees, (81 = Harry's birth year) "How great is that!" Please join us as we remember all the Good times! Harry was so thankful for and commit to embracing the good times in our own lives, because, as Harry said, "Everything's a miracle!"
- Ann, Harry's grateful Mom who is especially grateful to the officers of the Chester Park Association for unanimously saying Yes! to this and to the Community Church of the Pelhams, Harry's home church, which was ready to alter their Saturday schedule to accomodate us. The weather is cooperating so we shall have the celebration where Harry would like it best, out of doors.
Can someone that will be attending record this and upload to You-Tube?
It looks like that is the plan. Here's the latest update from the Facebook page:
Nick and Jenn of email@example.com will be doing both a music and a photograph montage for the service and they would like your input.. If you remember music or songs you associate with Harry, please send their names to Nick and Jenn . Also, if you have photographs you would like to see included in the photo montage, please send those to Nick and Jenn as well. This will supplement the top-notch video made for the fundraiser dinner. I apologize for the late notice but this wonderful opportunity has just arisen and I hope we can take advantage of it.
We are going to try to have someone make a video of the service to send to people who are disappointed they will be unable to attend, people like Maya Boyd (Ann: "I wonder what you would have been like if you'd been born a girl." Harry: "I would have been Maya.") whose tiny son Claudius must get a passport before he can travel and must be at least two weeks old before he'll be allowed on a plane. He'll be ten days old on the 16th so his Mom will have to be with us in spirit as she attends her growing boy's appetite.. People like Ivonne Butler who spent over a thousand hours on the search for Harry, whose heavy-duty family responsibilities are keeping her in Dallas, and Mary Villagomez from Coacoyul whose call for me to go down and search for Harry myself got Eric Anderson from Rio de Janeiro and me from New York to Guerrero to begin distributing flyers, initiate radio and newspaper advertising and finally carry our effort over the top with the posting of billboard-sized banners in Zihuatanejo and Petatlan, Mary can't get a visa in time for Saturday. So many of you all over the world, living your good lives, connected to your families in sickness and health and sadness and joy who will be there for us in spirit but somewhere else at ten o'clock Saturday morning. We are going to make a video to have available for you.
So PLEASE everyone who will be attending, be ready with a Harry story to be preserved for posterity. And all of you who have photos or song/music ideas, send them to Nick and Jenn at firstname.lastname@example.org. It will mean a lot to Harry's family of friends and to
Ann, Harry's Mom
not to mention Harry who will be keeping an eye on the proceedings either from Cloud 9 or right next to you whispering in your ear, "What? No dancing?!!!Let's move out of here and party at the beach!"
A nice tribute to a fellow traveler.
