I have been riding for the past few years now and have logged a good amount of miles on my bike, but I have never ridden as a passenger up until last weekend. My friend bought a scooter (took the MSF Class) and one of my riding buddies and I figured we would ride with her and help her with getting more familiar with her scooter (she wasn't very confident on it in the class :deal). As much as I love my bike, I didn't feel like putting around behind her scooter in the slow lane, so I decided that I would ride on the back of my friend's bike.

From the moment we took off I was giggling like a little school girl. I have been riding with my buddy for about 2 years now and we have taken cross-state trips and she is a pretty decent rider *insert woman-can't-drive joke here or you're-a-homo/can't ride joke*, so after a while I would pick up when she would shift/turn in/brake/etc and whenever we would turn onto streets and such we would scrape pegs no problem. After a few blocks we were in perfect sync and having a blast

We went to starbucks *insert poser starbucks joke* and went on about how neither of us have ridden as passengers and how it is actually pretty fun. She rode on the back the way back and had a blast.

Have any of you guys ridden as a passenger. How was it?

Okay, I'm prepared to be made fun of :1drink

As a kid I spent a lot of miles on the back of my Fathers bike, haven't been on the back since I got my license at 16.

One time my brother "launched" me off the back of his XS650, he popped the clutch and I went head over heals off the back, I think that was actually the last time.

Iv been on the back of a GSXR, freaking cool in the twistys cu's ya looking where your going as if you were riding but you don't have to think about the mechanics, your just looking and flying thru.

A roller coaster comes close but they never seem to take the bends fast enough and not the same G's.

I am happy to jump on the back of my dads bike. But I won't ride pillion on any other bikes if I don't know the rider

I have been riding my own bike for 6 year.

Exactly. That said, I don't think anything comes close to riding your own bike, but it was just such a cool thing to be looking through the turns and just flying through and not worrying about my own throttle control.

She has been riding for quite a while and probably has more miles on here than a good handful of inmates here. We've ridden thousands of twisty miles together so I can say that I trust her technique and skills :D. Besides, who doesn't wanna ride on a bike with a chick (albeit maybe not on the back) :lol3
Side note: I did get a few funny looks at the red lights. Ehh, who cares anyway :hide.

I prefer to be the one doing the steering but apart from that it isn't a problem over here, if its a longer journey I will generally dose off,(not asleep as such but not awake either). It is as a passenger that the bike becomes "just" a mode of transport.

I will never ride on the back of a motorcycle, those things are too dangerous.

I dislike riding as a pillion passenger intensely. It is uncomfortable for a tall person like me, and difficult to see.

Being a hack monkey in a sidecar rig is a lot of fun though, particularly offroad.:deal

When I am on the back of a bike I just look at the view of to one side or the back of a helmet. As a pillion you just have to sit the and hold on and try not to move.

My daughter has been riding for about 6 years now. She has had a few boyfriends ride "Bitch" on the back... they have to be secure in their masculinity to hang with her.

I loves riding bitch, if the rider is a capable woman. I think it's hilarious to pull up at a light and be the big dude on the back, with a tiny petite woman hauling me around on her bike. The stares keep me laughing inside my helmet.

I'm a terrible passenger, car, bus, bike or aircraft. I need to be the damn pilot.

I'm looking for imaginary pedals, levers, steering wheels or bars when I'm passenger.

That said, I will ride pillion with one person in the world, and I will be co-pilot with another.

But I can't ride pillion, much as I may like to from time to time.

Last time I rode as a passenger was 30+ years ago my bike was busted and my Bud gave me a ride to school. Well my Bud who learned how to ride from me and friends thought it was his job to show me how well he could ride and with me on the back, never again was I passenger (only way now it would happen would be if I was broke down).

The same applies to anyone that wants to ride my bike, never again and that's a whole different story.

I am an A type control freak. I do NOT/NOT make a good or relaxed passenger.
