    Hey folks,
I am on an annual trip from Miami on my R100RT I usually am on the PD but long story), wondering if there are any suggested camping spots on the coast anywhere for the night of the 2nd or 3rd?

Anyone have any that are great for solo cyclers?

    Any help appreciated.

....anyplace inbetween that you would suggest.

I just tent it but was wondering if anyone had a place or some places that they can say are better than others. On the ocean or not.

    KOA?

    Independents?

    State?

    Whatever/

that was just what I was looking for. We have tons of places here in The Florida Keys but some suck and some don't so a personal endorsement helps a lot.

    Thank you.

    Greetings to a fellow Airhead!
I second for south cost Ridge rd.
We camped last weekend at Lake San Antonio.
The lake has no water but we had a great time. They have gas and a store but camping is $ 28 per vehicle!
Farther inland there is a lake near Santa Margharita I heard was good to camp on.
That's also the start of CA Hwy 58 which is a great road.
On Hwy 58 is Corrizzo plains , which has two campgrounds.
I like the Selby camp more!
Keep going down Soda lake rd, to Hwy166 and from there Cerro Noroeste to Pine mountain, Lockwood Valley to Hwy 33!!! there are many camps and great roads.
Nights are getting nippy , for sure in the higher elevations.
If you need assistance with your Airhead let me know!

Do yourself a favor, if it's a Ca State campground, ride through and find the bike camping area, meet a bicyclist, and offer to pay his camping fee ($5) if he will let you put your tent up on his site, and save $30

Prewitt Ridge is the campground referenced twice above along South Coast Ridge Road. This campground is terrific, but the latest I have been to this location is mid-September and I can't vouch for the weather in November. A few clicks north from this campground is another spot named "Apple", which has a lot more wind protection.

I am camping that weekend in the San Simeon campground. Close to town so we can ride in and eat. Campground is just north of town and has good facilities. If your in the neighborhood stop by for a beer, should be there Friday and Saturday night.

This map might help you out.....or it may make choosing more difficult when you see how many great places there are to choose from:rofl

You can P.M. Me an address and I'll send this out to you this afternoon.

P.S. I don't think you can beat Limekiln State Park for camping beauty, the camp sites sit high up on a cliff over the ocean. Just beautiful.

P.P.S. if you have some time and are interested in steam locomotives, I recommend the Skunk Railroad. Just north of San Francisco. I rode this for the first time last weekend and it was epic!

Check it out about 50 miles north of Morro Bay. It's on the right as you go by Sand Dollar Beach. It's REALLY nice. People miss it cuz they're gawking to the left. We've been going there about 30 years.

Looks like Youbuddy & Spuds may be up for some Cmabria lunch so....I was thinking of leaving LA Saturday about 10:30 or 11 am or so, maybe get to Cambria about 3 for a late lunch/early dinner kind of thing.

If that works for you let me know...The earliest I can leve LA is probably 10 because I am having Valdi at Valdis do some basic stuff and he opens at 930.
