An off-road riding/race event is gonna happen this coming weekend in the valley west of Mulege. Starts Sunday, 27th, at 10AM. Start line is west of town out the Ice House road, about 7 or 8 miles west of town, at the junction to La Trinidad/mission Guadalupe. Bikes, quads and cars/trucks. Bike gear safety inspection under the bridge in town saturday, about 11 to 2 or 3, can't recall. Bike riders need a helmet. I know nothing of classes and rules for this event. I suspect 2, 3 or 4 loops of the course, which means riding withs some possible fast 4 wheel equipment that wants to pass bikes, be careful! There is some entry fee to race, I don't know what it is, but the funds are going to help pay for med bills of local kids. I did a preride yesterday on a small bike. Is about a 14/15 mile loop. Valley arroyos, sand, rocks, then loops around to a rocky arroyo water crossing, with sand and rocks, followed by mas sand and rocka. Is all rancho 2-track. Fun, until you go too fast and blow off into the cactus. Did I say the course has some sand and rocks? This is just FYI, I am not putting this on, just passing the word around. I think spectating could be more dangerous than riding, esp if you try to go out on a hot course.
