Did someone say it’s “Hurricane” season?
^^^Especially if this guy is out, lol.
Not available this weekend, but glad this thread is getting revived. I have been "busy" shredding street rubber on the Snake and ran about 8 days straight with the VFRD group. I think I missed a few ADV posts because the forum didn't notify me. Perhaps I will join some of your off-road shenanigans, but prior to that I am hoping to add some light dual sport intentions to my CB500X and am curious if you guys have any recommendations that won't slow me down too much in the knee dragging category. See my post below in the 500 thread:
I'm sure DS tires on the 500 will be disappointing and I will add a WR250R to the stable only to realize I have years of practice ahead of me.
haha I rode some fun roads in KY this past weekend Steve. You have got to make it up to KY 119 between Cumberland and Jenkins, then 160 from Appalachia to Cumberland. Had a big group (12) Friday, but only 5 Saturday. Perfect size for increasing the pace.
Shoot me a line next time you are riding, Ken!
Actually forgot Sarah’s is closed on Sundays
Looks like we are busy on Saturday, so we will be heading out on Sunday. I’ll figure out what we are doing and post up in case anyone is available to meet up.
I haven’t even been able to ride with the Shinko rep since I mounted Shinkos!?!?
Steve, I thought about it but riding with 12 is challenging and the day we only had 5 was kind of a spur of the moment thing as guys were showing signs of being tired from riding back to back 250 Miles days at a pretty good clip. I will definitely keep you in mind for future rides with these guys. we do run a good pace.
Cheap, I almost took the fairies to Sarah's Friday but wondered how they would handle 12 at once?? Do they do lunch and dinner or just breakfast and Lunch?
She does breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday I believe. 12 at once would have been a crowd for sure. If you wouldn't mind the time, I'm sure she'd be happy to accommodate, but it would have taken some time for sure.
I know the feeling. We had a similarly large group at the VFRD ride a couple weeks ago, but divided into 2 subgroups so we weren't waiting on everyone. It was nice in case someone wanted to drop back at a slightly slower pace, too. Certainly not the norm. I typically don't like groups more than about 4 when the plan is to pass vehicles who are bound to be unhappy about it.
I'm back finally!

Very nice bike. I have a close friend who has an AT with the same colors.
Thanks, I liked the Euro color schema so went with that! So SidewinderX and ExtremeNC where do you all want to meet Saturday? Could meet for breakfast somewhere and then decided where to go from there. Only request I have is staying away from anything really slick with those stock tires and me getting use to the bike.
I might come out if it’s strictly pavement :). But don’t let that deter you guys if you want to do other stuff!

It’s your maiden voyage. I don’t care myself. I live near the Hwy421 and I-77 interchange. ExtremeNC lives another 35-40 minutes towards Boone.
We could meet in Mt Airy and head north on good curvy pavement or meet in Sparta and head towards some good curves and easy FSR.
Or meet in Elkin or meet at my house (but I’m not cooking)...
My wife will be at church most of the day so I should be free all day. I asked her if it was a class on how to deal with difficult husbands and she said that the event was only lasting one day.... hmm
Well I jumped the gun as usual. Looks like I’m slam packed this weekend, forgot that my middle daughter is going for baptism on Sunday! Looks like I’m out this weekend, I hope y’all have a good ride, and I hope to make it out soon. Curious to hear your thoughts on that AT, I rode one for a few dirt miles at Uwharrie and loved it!
Are we talking Saturday, or Sunday? I'm good with anything. Meeting at 8, I will want to get a bite to eat, but fast food is okay. Meeting later and I can eat before I leave home. SidewinderX knows some good gravel (not Old Independence Road!) in that area north of Sparta if you want a mix. TTGator, you would be okay with that too. Anyway, tell me where to meet....
How does everyone keep their bikes so clean????
"We could meet in Mt Airy and head north on good curvy pavement or meet in Sparta and head towards some good curves and easy FSR."
@SidewinderX @Extremenc I've never ridden in the Sparta area so lets try that out. Only gas station I see on the map in Sparta is an Exxon, want to meet there? And what time? Says it'll take me around 1 hour 40 - 45 minutes from the house.
Saturday or Sunday?
