The earlier the better for me. Meet in Sparta at 8 or 9?

We could grab a coffee and head out.
    Speedway, Hardee's, etc.

    Up to you.

7:45 or 8 would be good for me. I have to give my doggie his meds at 6:30 and could be gone by 6:45 or so. Probably take me 50 or 60 minutes going up the BRP to 18. Lets meet at Hardees in front of Food Lion. Biscuit sounds good to me.

Just found this thread. Great idea! I live in upstate SC, but get up that way a lot. I'll look for these roads. Thanks for sharing!

Are a few of you central to Racoon Holler/West Jefferson?

There's a GREAT breakfast spot right at the BRP there and I could come down and stay with some relatives at the campground.

If I could stay for 3 nights/2 full days of riding, I'd love to see some local roads

(And my great aunt would love to make you dinner)

Great riding all around that area that's for sure. Let us know sometime when you're coming to visit!

Missed you today Cheap! Although I'm sure you had a good time with your family. SidewinderX took us on some great roads today from the beauty along the New River to the challenge of Old Independence Road!

Sounds like a good time. I was busy getting fishing lessons from my oldest daughter. You laugh, but she knows her way around a fishing pole a lot better than I do! :lol3

Is that the pond at Racoon Holler?

If you run into the Breens tell them Jonathan says hi! They're in an Allegro usually near the bath house

One of my favorite moto-camping spots was there in 2013, before they got rid of a lot of Christmas trees

I know this place has probably been mentioned before on adv, but I don't believe it's been mentioned in this thread. If you're ever out around the Marion, VA area be sure to stop by this place and order a little something from Sarah. Some of the best homemade food I've had in a loooong time! Not to mention the history and nostalgia of this little place is pretty neat! Located right off of 16 in between Mouth of Wilson and Marion. It's right before you get to Troutdale.

Ditto!, and her daughter doesn't mind sharing the breakfast table with "old people". Mom and daughter are a breath of fresh air.

I normally eat at the place down the road at the highway 58 and 16 intersection, but did stop by here early this year. The only person there told me that they might not fire up the grill this year. Glad to hear they did! I will stop in Wednesday on my way north. That GS is sure looking good Cheap! Needs a little mud on it....

Okay, here is my report on White Oak Road. I have recently restructured our core business and will have more time to update this "Zero Income" website that i enjoy so much. For now this RR is a few weeks old. I have been up White Oak a couple times since this one and may even run up it this week, just because it is "there". It is not really much of a challenge for small dirt oriented bikes, but perfect for bigger, heavier machines. Here is where it starts at the intersection of Heaton Branch and White Oak. Drops down to the creek then crosses over between a couple of houses. IMG_0728.JPG

Ride out a ways then be prepared to go up the mountain without stopping much unless you are "bigger than your bike".... IMG_0729.JPG

SORRY! I don't have pics of the ride up. I just haven't felt comfortable stopping considering the terrain and the incline. Here is a raw video that you can pick through and hopefully understand how great this road is:
