I took a little ride northwest of Baton Rouge last week. I'm exploring a possible route for a bicycle/camping trip. The route would follow the west bank of the Mississippi river north from Baton Rouge. I have never taken a camping trip on the bicycle and feel the need to plan, plan, plan. Motorcycle trips I'll take with little more than a destination and some vacation days. Go figure.

Here is my bike parked in front of the Orange Grove Country Store. I don't think they are open anymore...

The Angola Ferry landing is in the background. It serves mainly prison employees and there was no sign of it on a Saturday morning.

Not bad looking for a bike that spent two weeks submerged waiting for NOLA to get pumped out after Katrina....
(more info on that here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113849 )

Here I'm heading home following the levee road that parallels Hwy 77 to Ramah. Beautiful day out there...

I stopped at the South Farm ATV area. Saw an alligator, but alas, no picture. The park looks like a nice place to ride but it has a 15 mph speed limit?!

That's all till next time. Over 2000 miles on the bike since the rebuilding and it is still a favorite ride.

    Thanks for looking.

If it was a KLR, all you'd have to do is tilt it back, let it drain and fire it up. :D

    Nice job!

We were down there. Some of that flood water was NASTY!!! :puke1 Black, smelly...and we saw some drunk guy swimming in it!!! :puke1 :huh The NG guys said they drove their Humvee in there to get him out...and he used it as a diving board to keep jumping in. :eek1 :lol3

Saw the funniest message painted on a store front.

    "Don't try
I am sleeping inside with a big dog
    an ugly woman
    two shotguns
    and a claw hammer"

    Next window over..."9/4/05
    Still here
    woman left Fri
cooking a pot of dog gumbo"

    :rofl
