A post was made in the Ride to Eat, but I think this deserves it's own thread:

Tom Camardese the owner of the Iconic Ozone Burger Barn passed away.

I had some great rides getting there and his food was always good especially his double decker BLTs. I always pinned Tom as "Grumpy", he kind of reminded me of the Soup Nazi from the Seinfeld show, but he was really a good guy that kept many of us fed on our rides.

    RIP, Tom.

I thought this was a good article. He will be missed.

Ozone lost most of its retail establishments over the years, but one exception is the Ozone Burger Barn – a rare opportunity for sustenance in the area. It’d been in business a decade or so when proprietor Tom Camardese bought the establishment in 1999. An Ohio native, Camardese had worked for several national restaurant chains before making the move to the Ozarks. He offers an amazingly diverse menu (hand-made burgers and fried catfish are specialties) with favorable on-line reviews from Yelp and TripAdvisor patrons. Dining is outside on one of the many picnic tables. Camardese says he’s pretty busy year-round: hunters in the winter, canoeists/hikers come springtime, traditional tourists throughout the summer, and motorcyclists during the fall. On at least one occasion he’s had bears grazing on the berries in front of his take-out window.

Well, the Burger Barn is now open again. But don't do a dance just yet.. I pulled in for a burger this afternoon and waited, and waited , and waited for someone to take my order. No one ever came to the window. Just 2 workers making a meal for someone else waiting. Guess they take an order, go make it and then after its done, take another order and make it.

Had to ride all the way home and eat.....

Where the heck do they go? It's like a 6 X 10 building. You shouldn't even have to raise your voice to be heard to give your order even if they go to the very back. :lol2

Anybody stopped by here since Tom passed? Is it open again? This place has been widely known in the riding world.

Yea I saw that but since he didn't really eat there, I was kinda looking to see if any others made it there. His experience didn't really seem open for business as I know it but it could have been just an anomaly.

That was a great place for a tasty, greasy burger. Tom was the short guy?

Is the place a mile up the road still open? Had an old fire truck out front, Honda CL scrambler on a pole, and an antique shop in an old two story house next door. Haven't been up there in years.

Interesting, I checked Google maps a few days ago and it said closed permanently. If I can, I'm trying to go home in a few days and go by just to see.
