I know the area well - went to college at Grove City.

yay! I will be running the Promise Land 50K++ Saturday. Said to be actually 34 miles with 8000 feet of elevation gain....

That elevation chart you posted on FB looks insane. You'll do great though - need a report after!
Its a David Horton Race. I guess he typically adds a few miles to make things tougher. The profile chart reads 31.7, but from the writings its said to be 34... looks insane, it will be a combat run. :)

Ran (?) my first trail race today, also my first race in three years. Even tho it rained all night, the trail conditions were great. Ran 2:29 for the 12 miles. I walked the uphills and did notice that there were more uphills on the last lap than on the first lap :huh. This beats the heck out of road running.
why yes.. yes it does beat road running! Good job on youre first trail race. Bet you noticed 12 trail miles feels like at least 20 road miles!

Saw your FB post - are you doing any part of the LHHT ultra this weekend? Pacing, team event, etc?
I go out every morning for a run. Every evening I take the dog out for a walk. Used to be that any time spent not running just didn't count as training. Yeah, I was one of those people you see jogging in place at a crosswalk, waiting to go across. Now that I'm more geriatric I've taken to seeing any time spent moving on my own two feet as training.
For example, yesterday was an easy day. Out for 30 minutes "running" in the morning, of which maybe 20 was actually running, the rest walking fast. Then, 25 minutes out walking the dog in the evening, again at a brisk pace. Now, I total all that up and think I trained for a total of 55 minutes yesterday. 20 years ago I would say I trained for 20 minutes yesterday.
Am I now seeing it correctly, or am I just an old fart trying to convince myself I'm doing more than I am?
I ended up pacing a buddy. I met him at 9 and we finished at 3 am.
The course was REALLY hard. Super technical. a mountain or two.. the best part was at mile 34.4 we went up a ski slope at Timberline resort! Oh ya, they lie, it was really 41 miles... jerks.... lol
That looks like a great time for a 40 miler. (or, is that your buddy?)
Looks like my brother is finally over his knee injury and training. We've picked out the Devil Mountain 50k to run, it's in late September in southern Colorado. Should be fun!
thats me.. I went out a little to fast, blew up at the mid point then recovered and finished stong. The guy in the orange is the race director and a fellow rider. He has a few BMW GS bikes. :) Small world.
