Well, at least I finished, but slow, 10 hours 22 minutes. Did a fair bit of walking, more than normal. It was a tough course, some big climbs and really steep and rocky. I'll call it a win to have crossed the finish line on this one, and I'll be better trained next time! :kurt

I'll run the next one with you. How about late January or early February for another 50K? Want to train with me???

    Finished a 50K yesterday:

    http://www.badgerlandstriders.org/home/Races/GlacialTrail50M50K.htm

This was my second year. Last year the weather was terrible. It rained and it was windy the whole time. Finished in 7h:32m.

This year, weather was PERFECT! 44 at the start, 60 for a high, and I missed my PR by 12 minutes :doh

Oh well, still a good run.

Congrats! I think that to simply finish a 50k or longer distance, regardless of the time, is an accomplishment enough. If you can run a fast time that's lots of icing on the cake!

Thanks, but the icing on the cake was the bacon cheeseburger and 22oz Shiner Bock I had at Texas Roadhouse after the race. :D

It's days like that where my calories consumed minus the calories burned is a negative number so I feel like I earned it.

[IMG] Managed to finish a 100 miler last year. 28 hours and 43 minutes- never hallucinated but did have a few odd moments. First Ultra of 2014 is four weeks out for GRT 50 miler

You are tougher and younger than me disconnected, congratulations! We did a 50 miler once a few years ago, and that might be enough, once. :lol3

Training now for the Bishop 50k in May with Skowinski-wife, and then the Speedgoat 50k in July with my brother. Sunday runs are around the 3 hour mark and slowly climbing.

Yep. Had to bail on the Bishop 50k in May because Skowinski-wife and I both came down with a really rotten flu about a week before the race. But, this past weekend went to the Speedgoat 50k with my brother (our once-a-year get together, do a stupid run, and drink beer :lol2). We made it to the Tunnel Aid Station and were 10 minutes behind the cutoff time, we were there in 9 hours 10 minutes. We both agreed it was a harder run than the Tahoe Rim 50 miler we finished a few years ago, and only covered half that distance. Brutal course. We had fun!

Wow! Fat Dog looks really cool. I saw a video on You Tube where a guy ran the 135 mile (think that's what it was). It looked amazingly beautiful!

Yeah. Been watching that video too. I'm not ready for that distance. Did 45k yesterday, that'll be my last +25 k run before the event.

    yes

Hour at a time 2x/week in the woods on top of the cycling I've been doing. I'm nowhere near what you'd call 'running fit' but it'll get me thru CX season

Cx is cycle cross?! Eh? I've been looking at cycle cross bikes for a fall recovery sport. Looks super fun. A good friend of mine races frequently.
