So what did ya get ?
my GS has almost 90,000 miles on it and very few of them are gentle
so when the brake line let go and I DNF'ed the VOID last fall it kind of got in my head a little. I don't mind the normal slings and arrows that go along with owning an older vehicle, but my life is too fucked up to get stranded out on the road. I've been looking and thinking since then. When I signed up for NIIT WIt, the thought of what's going to probably be a 3,500 mile long weekend really got me thinking. I was looking for an '07-10 GSA with under 25,000 miles.
On the other hand the last time I broke out the checkbook was ten years ago, so when something sweet comes along, why not? OP bought this bike, set it up beautifully, and sold it. Buyer rode it for a year, decided it wasn't his thing, and it fell into my slimy little paws
'13 GSA with 12,000 miles. This thing is a beast
I think the only scuffs on the whole bike are from me strapping it down in the trailer to bring it home from kentucky
the Barney Rubble/George Jetson thing is definitely in play again though
That's fantastic, congrats on the new bike, Boonie!
Nice Lance ! Sweet bike for sure !
May you have many Great Adventures with it
Did you have that at the G.Gathering ?
I never really got a chance to talk to ya really ..
The evenings were a little busy for me ..
Just picked it up in Kentucky yesterday
It'll do, I think.
Officially in for the 10hr Void -- be seeing you in VA !
Hey that's great, look forward to catching up!
got my VOID gps files!
edit: and if you're in, it's a real good idea to keep an eye on the News page on the rally website.
I am signed up for the 10-hour as well. Have a route planned, at least until I see the Rally Book and everything gets screwed up anyway. As you did for your first, I am going to ride my plan, not going to change substantially regardless. It will be an interesting, and maybe a bit time-challenging route with few bail out options. Competitive? Hell, I don't know, I've never done this before. I can assure you though, it will be an adventure.
Seems like we are going to have quite a few ADV Rider inmates participating. I am planning on being at the hotel by 1700 or so. Riding in from Leesburg, VA. Looking forward to meeting you, and any of you other FFs that show up.
This is likely the sucker route
... but it is one that I am planning as well. It'll be interesting to see what the rally book has to offer, but I don't expect to change as I am kind of stubborn.
See you friday
Also a sucker here, which means the book should be interesting
Which is good because I'm on the road and haven't even looked at a map since Sunday.
Actually haven't even been on a bike in a month, thinking about making this a pleasant day ride. Also, I have an idea...
Boonie, Mona and I are flags 51 and 52 starting in Wilkes Barre, PA on the 31 hour event. I'm sure you saw the final packet in your email last night. I forwarded it to my work email and printed what I needed this morning. Of course I'd already planned our route and looked up our stops with Google Earth so I had a pretty good idea of what we'd be looking for. We're riding a 2008 BMW F800ST and 2007 Yamaha FJR1300 respectively with PA tags so you'll know what to look for in parking lot. Hoping for cooperative weather this year as we've spent the last 4 Void rallies in the rain including last years debacle of Hurricane Matthew.
I'm feeling good about my routing choices. I was able to put 2 high point bonuses and 1 combo string into a route that makes sense for our abilities and max out our rest bonus. I guess the scoring table will tell us how well that all went once it's done.
Best of luck and looking forward to meeting you
Same here - I'm just doing the 10 hour so we'll get our packets Friday night. Not sure what my number is but I'll find you
Congratulations again in your podium finish in the 10-hour Void Rally. It was a pleasure to meet you. Thanks again for all of your help.
See you next year!
Thanks John, great to meet you too and glad you had a good time.
don't worry, success hasn't spoiled me yet
thought I did just wash a motorcycle, so maybe I HAVE changed
caught a couple of lucky breaks, will try to get the story up later
