Mr Peterhansel knows how to win and has the temperament to do it again and again.

I like Robby. He damn well knows how to drive as well as anyone. But he lacks the halter on his emotions and brain me thinks.

He can really shoot for the podium. He would have this year if he hadn't rolled it.

Hope he makes true on his promise to return :clap

Miller criticized Gordon for blaming others for problems that kept him from winning, then explained that he (Miller) would have won more often if he had better navigators. I've watched a lot of media on Gordon, and he is often explicit in taking responsibility when talking about problems.

So Robby comes across a bit more brash than others. Peterhansel calls him a cheater, and Gordon says Mini's are for girls. I vastly prefer Gordon's impulsive comments to the smug superiority of Miller and Peterhansel. I didn't dislike Peterhansel before, and I liked Miller, but I've lost some respect for both of them. I have no doubt Gordon has his flaws and worse moments, but I've seen so many good moments from him I find myself liking him more and more.

Well, if I take my own point, I'd have to admit I shouldn't be judging Peterhansel and Miller by what I see as some of their worst moments. Still, a lot of criticism of RG doesn't seem reasonable.

Quoting Robby in an Interview after Stage 13
"It's just too bad that I got off track on Day 1. . . . I can't say enough about Peterhansel and those guys on the job they did this year, phenomenal! Just not very fast, but [he made] no mistakes again. Awesome job."

Strong Bad, I'm sure you have your reasons for not liking the guy. I'm just saying . . .

I only really watch the dakar bikes... with the exception being Robby of course. If there other car drivers were there or not I wouldn't care... just let Robby drive around by himself as he entertaining and seems like a crowd pleaser!!

He's a true racer, he'll get in anything and drive it full-throttle, compared to some of these car guys who are so serious and only care about this one race every year, strategizing... talented, sure but so boring to watch.

My introduction to RG was in Dust to Glory in which he played the part of the A-Hole trophy truck driver, but his performances and antics in the Dakar these past few years have made me a big fan. Bring on the KOH

There are two guys racing today that take me back many years. Tony Stewart reminds me of A. J Foyt.
Robby Gordon reminds me of Parnelli Jones. Not only in their driving style, but, their personalities.

I remember reading an oldish Dakar report by Ron Ayers (I think) in which he described Peterhansel as "slow poison" when he was still on bikes. Talent and navigational instincts aside, he'd nibble away at any deficit and consolidate or defend his lead. It was (and still is) a devastating strategy. That is what Gordon has to beat.

I didn't put this RG compilation together, I just ran across it. It's footage from last year, but it's good stuff.
