first off he has the euros IF they fine him... Secondly, Aso must pay attention to best in the desert racing series as this is a big Casey Folks pet peeve (he makes everyone mark their rims ..

and thirdly it is a hummer body on RG stadium truck.. :evil

Remember RG's "circle work" below the freeway overpass bridge - heading into the finish at Lima last year, and the video that hit the web shortly after?

Well rumour has it that ASO recieved a letter from fairly high up in the grapevine as a result of that; along the lines of "do not let this happen again" or paragraphs to that effect. :brow

I think Etienne - as much as anyone - realizes the drawcard that RG's antics afford... but they have to "cover their asses" from the legal/regulation standpoint as well.

We could all see from his facial expressions the last couple of years, during the start and finish podium proceedings, that Lavigne (begrudgingly) gave the "thumbs up" for RG's podium jump (due to a lot of crowd and announcer pressure). But just imagine the sling his butt would be in, if it for some reason should go "ยค%&! up"...?

The "podium jump" is one thing... the "donuts" in front of the crowd (behind those flimsy crowd control stands?). What if a CV or something let go in "mid rotation" and 4000-something pounds of Hummer spears into the crowd (who were only a couple of meters away on occassion).

As said before, the "powers that be" made the call, ASO had to be seen to do something... else the start (and especially finish) liasons could develop into a "free for all". Let's face it, even Chicherit got in on the action last year... if left unchecked, how many would be tempted to do same?

Actually, it simplifies things tremendously as opposed to starting from scratch.

Rooting for Rubby, got to cheer for the underdog and its not possible to get excited by the thought of the boring X-Raid whitewash... Get in there RG and mix it up!

I've just got Hummer, Raptor and Durango. What else is there?

Is that the way he's meeting regulations for production based car? A frankentruck made of various manufacturers parts?

Getting a chassis off the fixture table and making it a "roller" takes the most time. With the drive train mounted, the rest is wiring, plumbing, and mounting Dakar specific stuff. Not a huge deal, but then an SST, like any short course racer, are pretty bare bones. Perhaps you forget that all of the Hummmbuggies were Class 1 race cars prior to becoming Dakar racers. He has yet to build a Dakar race car from scratch.
