Got a tip from Alpineboard about this club, attended a meeting, and got permission to pass along contact information.

This group is not AMA sanctioned at this point, has no dues, and rides weekly on Sundays on a large private property. Right now they have a loop with 9 sections marked - left from a recent event there. The property belongs to a relative of a member and can only be ridden by invitation.

There are some trails and free-ride areas with big rocks and log crossings. The parking area has a 12 foot long, two inch diameter, pipe raised a few inches from the ground. Not many can ride the entire length. There were no knobby tires participating this day but they would be allowed.

There were 6 riders there last Sunday. Ability ranged from new rider to CH. I was the new rider and am very glad to find a group to ride with.

One of the riders was Stuart Preston, who runs Jack's Cycles, one of the few trials bike dealers in the Northeast. He is a big supporter of the sport, having contributed the ribbon to mark sections, and bringing parts and fuel to the event.

The President and founder of the club is Jareth Johnson. You would need to contact him to ride with this group. He gave me permission to share his email with you guys (and girls): rockandrolltrials@gmail.com .

Great to hear of clubs like this it is what really fuels the grass roots of the sport. Too bad Berwick is about as far South as you can get in Maine if it was further North might have been able to lure a few of our New Brunswick riders over.

OK, i know how it works around here. No pictures - it didn't happen. Well, I drove over to Berwick ME again yesterday to ride and got some photos this time. Here are Garrison, Stu, Austin, and Chris.

This is great. I have a friend with property close to Biddeford Pool that is nothing but a rock garden that we play on a couple times a year. I will pass this info along to him.

I keep going back every week for more punishment. It has been a bit cold and now there is snow on the ground. This club rides in all weather though, including snow. Am trying snow myself now - no choice, if I want to ride. Surprising traction but am having a little trouble on long steep climbs. Higher speed turns are also sketchy for me.

The club wants to grow. They are close to putting on a sanctioned event through NETA (New England Trials Association). I know it's a long way from Nova Scotia - but this might be the most Eastern and closest club to you.

Also want more locations to ride. Biddeford Pool is a beautiful area. Can we get an invitation to come over and play ?

Good point you are correct it is much more an East West issue... I am only about 100 miles North as the crow flies around same latitude as Bethal... A good 9 hour drive though. Quebec would be about the same and they have some great events.

    Hey Guys,

I own the property by Biddeford Pool that Boom Boom was describing. It is ten acres of pure trials heaven.

Unfortunately I live in Maryland and only get to ride the property a few times a year. Next trip up ,Ill put it out to all of you to join us.

This past September we had 13 people from Maryland / Pennsylvania make the trip North, several stopped by Stu's shop while they were in the area.

Boom Boom laid out about ten sections that range from mellow to WTF was he thinking!

    A couple of corrections:
Dues: Help out, pitch in. If you can afford it, give a little when needed. Occasionally, my sister, the Landlord, needs some help with firewood or putting up storm windows or whatever, any help is appreciated.
There are 10 ribboned sections from the last event, but at least 50+ sections already made and ready to ride.
We have permission to ride on over 100 acres, plus a little more if we go onto the neighbors land. He has over 1,000 acres and let us use it in the past, but he's gotten a little bit finicky since some local ya-hoos partying in his pit broke all the glass in his equipment. We had our first event start in his pit back in 2001 and he has been really cool.
We don't mind if you want to come on your enduro bike to check it out, but we have a very strict policy of no loud bikes. We have had no complaints about riding anyplace that we go and want to keep it that way.
No 4 wheelers. There are no trails big enough for 4 wheelers.
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday.
And we ride in the snow until it gets too deep to move in.
I have shoveled sections in the past, but not sure if I'll be that ambitious this winter.
    Feet up!

I did not see anyone on the knife edge, but that is a cool shot you got. Poor skidplate.

Jareth is a photographer as well as a trialsmaster so if we can get him to contribute more that would be good.

It was nice and warm, but that made the snow sticky and slushy like Texas clay on a rainy day! But with a little shoveling and a LOT of clutch and throttle control I managed to get about 4 hours in on this one section. Still, more fun than work! I don't know where Champe was???

Thanks Jareth , for the contributions. Inquiring minds want to know what it's like in the frozen North.

Ja, I chickened out Sunday. But just for the record, I noticed around 6 riders when the weather was reasonable. My last trip there were only 3. I am worried about melt and refreeze, with a little more fresh snow on top. If I can ride in my yard, though, I will be there !

Jareth actually hand shovels snow from the sections. Half his riding time he is off the bike doing photography or cutting trees and branches for the next section. Human dynamo.

Got some incoming flak about my new avatar. First photo of me on a trials bike. Guess who took it.

In my defense, on the awkward style, I had issues (novice type). Short uphill approach with ice, loose leaves, stump and tree obstacles. About 8 ft landing area where you need to go left or right immediately. You needed to go over a broken off end of log, off the ground a couple of inches. Jareth was making another Novice line and asked me if I wanted to try it. First try I made it but overshot the landing, going straight where I needed to turn. There was another diagonal log so I tried to jump it too. It rolled. I went down. There are photos, but now are useless as blackmail. 2nd try. Missed the end of the log from not getting lined up right on the approach. 3d try - cleaned it. So the avatar photo is one of those.
