Hello everyone. I am an old noob in Colorado Springs. Riding a KLR 650 mostly on road commuting, but I would like to change that. Looking forward to the summer and a bit more time off the asphalt. I am still looking through the forums, but is there an existing Colorado Springs area club/group that might be noob friendly?

I was told I have to join ADVrider by a couple of my friends who make fun of me while we're riding. They said they would respect me more if I signed up here, so I'll try that.

I fall off a lot and I get lost a lot, but I'm usually having fun when I'm doing both.

    Nice to be here.

Welcome! It doesn't matter how good or fast you ride, as long as you are having fun.

I can't remember if I ever introduced myself in this thread or not. Most likely, not. I used to post in in the Texas thread when I lived down there, but I moved back to Colorado in 2014 and have been a hermit. I don't have the super enduro in the picture anymore, and I'm reminded of that every time I twist the throttle on theTiger 800 and wonder why it feels so docile. I've got a plated xr650r and some other crap piled in the garage so the car sits outside. I like to ride, and do so as weather and time permits. I'm hoping to commute as much as I can this year on 2 wheels once the weather breaks. Anyway, maybe I'll go to one of the meet up events and meet some of you folks.

Just started scrolling the regional section and thought I'd introduce m'self.

I've been riding since '02, on pavement unless a well graded dirt strip seemed too tempting to pass on my CBR or later SV. I'm based in Denver, would love to meet some folks (I used to have Moto friends back in the utmc days), bbq and go riding!

Just bought a '15 crf250l, and am looking forward to putting lots of dirty miles on!

New to the forum here as well. I just came across the introduction thread. I've been riding (mostly dirt) since I was 9. I'm 51 now, so that should just tell you that I'm pretty old. Anyways, I ride a 2014 S10 and I'm up for just about anything. I have tons of time to spend on long trips or day runs to where-ever. Would like to meet a few Denver people if there are any. Mostly all I see in Denver are cruisers and hipsters on bikes I rode when I was a kid. Every once in a while I'll see some guy on a badass old klr rolling down the street, or stumble across a gs sitting at starbucks...Either way I'd like to meet some like minded folks.

Been lurking a bit and figured it was time to introduce myself.

Been living in Denver area since 2005. I started riding since I child, but I never really enjoyed it much. My dad always insisted I have a bike I could "grow into", problem was never able to ride consistently enough or stick with the same bike long enough to feel comfortable with it. So riding was something I did with my dad, not something I really enjoyed. Fast forward to my 20's living in Colorado. Dad finally got enough for the Harley he always wanted and had a older Vulcan 1600 that wasn't worth much so he insisted I get have it. From that point on, riding was no longer something I just did, it became something I LOVED doing. I think Colorado helped with that (the geography not the drivers). Well the Vulcan broke down and I didn't have enough to get her fixed, then I decided I wanted to upgrade anyway. So a few years ago I picked up the Rocket III. Awesome bike if not a little heavy. Then around the middle of last year I felt like there was a lot of Colorado that was still inaccessible so I started looking into dual sports/adv bikes . Then I found advrider, and after a bit of research decided to go with an ADV bike and tomorrow I'm bringing home a KTM 1290 SAR. It's been a long time since I've been in the dirt so I'm go at it slowly and practice on some of the dirt roads in my area before I head up into the hills, that'll give me time to get caught up on the rules and regs for riding in the parks as well. I'll be digging through this forum for info on how to proceed.

Looking forward to getting to know some of folks around here.

Hey! Hoping someone from Utah has answer for me. I'm picking up wife at SLC airport on June 23, and need to store my camping gear (1 duffel bag) in Salt Lake for 10 days. While we two/up to Mt. Rushmore and back. She gave up camping. Any place to store? I know that airport doesn't have lockers.

Hey guys, new to Denver. Picked up a 2015 R1200GS back in November in anticipation of relocating to CO. Looking forward to exploring the area!

    Hi All,
Denver Native but new to two wheels. I have a 2001 Yamaha xv Virago 250 (not currently running, but that's another story). Anyone know which bike forum I'd belong to to ask questions? Thanks much!

    Howdy,

I'm a "newish" rider up in the Fort Collins/Red Feather Lakes area and after lurking a while I signed up. I say "newish" as I rode years ago (20) in college as my primary transportation in true bulletproof youngster fashion with my hair on fire on a sport-bike doing stupid crazy things. Even then, on a GSXR no less, with my friends i took things off road and in the dirt. After a couple of offs (thank goodness for the limited gear) I sold the bike and moved on.

Now with approval from "The Boss" to go on adventures with my best friend who rides dirt in the 50+ MX scene it was time to start riding again albeit in a much more restrained manner. There's a TAT in our future and I need to school up before we launch in a few years. Lots came back quickly but still learning about riding on the dirt and falling but this time with more gear than ever before.

If you see someone cruising about on a KLR-ish thumper painted tan on the dirt up near Red Feather Lakes on the weekend its probably me. Still learning and gaining confidence in the dirt. I'm slow, not hitting too technical trails yet and learning at a reasonable pace. if anyone happens to be rolling up there some weekend and are looking for someone to ride with (and wait for...) let me know!

I may also be in the same area in my 20 year old black F150 set up for overlanding that The Boss and I take out for adventures.

Newb here, just got back into riding on the street last June after an 18 year hiatus. In the meantime I've been riding dirt bikes and racing quads. I'm thoroughly enjoying riding on the street but also want to look into ADV bikes and riding since this State is awesome. Not sure what I'm going to get but I'm really liking the V Strom 1000 and would love to have a KTM Adventure someday. I'm in the Littleton area and hope to see some of you on the trails.
