Hello from Montana. I came here looking for trails near forest campgrounds. We just picked up a Honda Trail 70 late last summer, my wife's family has one and I'm shopping for another CT70 or maybe a Z50.
Anyway, I'm looking for NF campgrounds suitable for a traiker and with nearby dirt trails, nothing advanced, just places outside the campground proper where a kid can goof off on a bike without getting in trouble.

I see Missoula and Bozeman threads. I'm still looking if there is something specific for Billings or S Central MT. We usually camp around Red Lodge and M-K is OK but need other ideas.

Hey guys I'm back in Colorado and ready for some riding. I have a decked out Wee Strom now but have dirt biked single tracked and Land Rovered (Solihull member) most of Colorado. I'm now living in the Bailey area so looking for dudes to ride with if you don't mind an old man hanging around. I'm probably one of the youngest 50 yr olds you meet. So drop me a pm and we will meet up and try some dirt.

I didn't see a proper intro area for JONGs, so this seemed appropriate.

Been lurking for quite some time and finally registered last summer. 'Bout time I introduce myself.

The focus here in the Asylum is mainly for my air-head Multi. I found this often un-loved, yet under-valued steed:

Slapped a few needed bits on it and a set of Pirelli Scorpions, giving what you see here:

And yes, she often sees dirt. Does quite well, all things considered. It's a great bike and it's aiming to see more adventuring this summer.

    Some more dirty scootering shots:

And things wouldn't be complete without some shots of exploring southern Utah.

    Hi,

My name is Antonio (from Spain) after 3 years in the States I finally moved to Denver. Last week I finally bought a 990 adv S. I have more than 10 years of riding experience on and off, some North of Africa, Mojave, and death valley are in my resume. I am excited about riding the rockies and meeting new people.

Please let me know if you live nearby amd if you do any kind of meeting happy hour, trip discussions, riding... I would love to join and introduce myself properly.

I run a business in the Denver Design District (Porcelanosa) so please if you ever are around please stop and have a coffee with me. Specially if there is a Ktm in the door.

After lurking on this site for a while I finally made the jump and bought a new 2014 V Strom 1000. I sold a Vulcan 900 custom so it's a big change. Looking forward to learning a new bike and a new riding style.

I have an odd schedule and am able to do a lot of riding so feel free to drop me a line if your looking for someone to go riding with!

Finally joined, no longer a guest...

Used to ride as a kid, now with my son 20 yrs old, got back into it a couple years ago. We were just riding dirt, even got mom in on it, as well as my son's girlfriend. There is a purpose to all of our bikes...

Then my son got a Buell Blast. Which in turn forced me into getting a klr to ride with him on the roads. The 450x, while plated and legal, is not an adequate bike for pavement.

Just thought I would say hi, you know, like all the older creepy men tend to do.... just not as creepy and old as some...

    Greetings all, :wave

I just moved to Denver from Melbourne, Australia. Should be here for the next 12 months or so at least.

I've only been riding 6+ months, bought a 04 KLR650 and headed off into the hills whenever I could til I came here. Also did an offroad riding course which was very useful for someone whose prior experience was riding a 250 round a paddock for 30 minutes.

I'm keen to pick up a bike while I'm here to explore Colorado, but waiting until I've got some work before dumping my savings on a bike. Probably looking to spend 2 grandish (unfortunately the Aus dollar is pretty weak atm) depending on how much cash gets eaten up before income starts coming in. Is that gonna get me something to bumble around reliably until the end of riding season? Not equipped with the space, tools, time or knowledge to be working on it half the time! I don't suppose there is any way to do a year long lease on a suitable bike?

Also how does licensing work here? I can drive on my Aus license, not sure if it's the same for bikes.
If you buy a "street titled" bike in CO is transfer of registration a simple process? Back home you need a Roadworthy Certificate from an authorised mechanic.

Any and all advice would be appreciated, and hopefully if I get hold of a bike there are some fellow slow riders out there keen for some exploring!

Welcome to ADV! Licensing a vehicle here is easy breezy! Take signed title, proof of insurance, and residency to your local DMV, hand them some USDs, and you are on your way! HTH!!!

    Hey all,

I'm a new motorcycle rider. Got divorced a few months ago and decided to try something new and exciting. I took my MSF class in April and bought an '03 KLR650 about a month ago. It was heavily modified by its previous owner. He did more to it than I comprehend. It's kinda ugly, but it runs awesome.

I've spent maybe 20 hours on the bike so far, so I'm far from an expert rider, but I'm loving it so far.

I live in Boulder and would love to meet other riders to go out adventuring with me.

Not in CO now, but lived a short time in Trinidad (96-98). Unfortunately did not have a bike back then. Just did the Raw Hyde Adventure Intro course this past June and met a lot of folks from the area (Riders and Instructors), GREAT bunch of folks and what an AWESOME place to ride... Kills me I was not doing this when I lived in the area (although I probably would be divorced now if I had!). I am heading back CO way the end of September and trailering out. Going to try and maximize CO riding versus spending a long day or more in MO and KS.. Starting out from Colorado City and heading to Trinidad to ride the old roads from my NRCS days doing Las Animas Country Soil Survey. If anyone has any ride route advice, let me know.

    Hello folks,

My wife and I just moved to Greeley from Chico, and I just traded my 2007 DL650 in for a 2009 DL1000.

We used to live in Fort Collins, so I know a few of the roads around here. Coming back from Steambot Springs to Greeley, I was shocked that the Poudre Canyon road is only 35 MPH in many places-total let down. I took the Masonville road to Loveland at twice the speed limit and had a blast there.

Anyone know of any good road rides in the area without a ridiculously low speed limit? I like carving corners more than anything, but I'm not against easy dual sport rides either.

My name is Joel, and I look forward to chatting with some of you folks soon!

    Thanks!

Hi all! Been in the rockies for a few years up in the Roaring Fork Valley, moving to Denver this month. Bought a KLR 650 last year as my first bike which I just resold to buy an 2007 R1200GS. I've put some miles on the dirt, and have some dirt bike experience, but still have lots and lots to learn! Would love to find some riding buddies, especially if you've got trail riding know-how that you wouldn't mind passing along.
