I always thought Moab was flat and boring.
I must be thinking of Salt Lake City.
OK admittedly I didn't look too hard yet but does anyone know a good link on the forum to send to a buddy of mine...he is looking at getting a dual sport bike potentially (has never ridden dirt before). He is short and that is what I am looking for leads on. Being 6'5" tall I don't have any good practical advice for him on what bikes to look at. I should have video captured his attempt to get on my 950 SE though... He runs about 5'8" I'd guess. Anyone have a forum lead for me? If no leads how about just some good recommendations for him to check out? It would need to be a plate-able dual sport type of bike. Thanks in advance.
no 500ft drops there
Looks like you are one mesa south from metal masher Blake?
(i.e. Gemini bridges trail is between the mesas in front of your photo?)
top of metal masher:
I really think a lowered DR might be the best option. i've had a KLR, and XRL, Husky's, KTM's and the DR seems lowest and probably the best initial dualsport in that it crashes well and can be had for a reasonable $$.
Not sure what dual sport he's interested in. I'm 5'4" and you can see what I ride in my sig line. The KLR has a Corbin dished seat which allows me to touch the ground. The DR350 has #2 lowering links. The 230 is not quite a full-sized bike and works well for me on single track. I also know that I fit the F650 well enough and can even do a reasonable one-cheek-sneak on a KTM990...not the super enduro model though. His inseam is more important than his overall height. Mine is just under 30". Hope this helps.

p.s. she made a booboo at the end - the website url is advrider.com - she put it as adventurerider.com
Made a short little dual sport film for my friend and owner of Fastbecks here on the edge of Albuquerque.
Well written- props to your bride!

Sarah's pen name... Oops! Nice catch I will let her know
I find it very funny that work blocked the link as "Melicious Content".
I'll have to read it when I get home.
ALERT! That link goes to a distinctly NSFW site! Good thing your work computer didn't let you go there! Does somebody have a better link?
Just to clarify, the link in the quoted message above went to a porn site with some very graphic pics. I googled Leigh Abilland and found an article about the right to medical care. Is that the right article?
