Not fair! I had pneumonia last year and couldn't breath.
and with hnf ride?
That was Kevin...I plea the fifth
Is the destination at the end of day 1 in the general area of Cave City?
Yup, most folks are staying just west of Cave City on KY-70. Rock Cabin Camping, links on the first post.
If I'm reading these scattered tea leaves correctly, it looks like the indoor-style accommodations at Rock Cabin are all spoken for.
What's the recommendation for the next best place? There's no shortage of faceless corporate motel rooms in Cave City, but if there's someplace within stumbling distance of Rock Cabin, that would be kinda cool.
There would be three of us in this group...
And no, we don't want to camp.
These cabins are just down the road from the Rock Cabins....
I tent camped there several years ago with the scouts. Post up what you find out please.
mbabc, I called and booked a cabin at the below place. Here is a link our "palatial cabin" accomadation. I am not sure how many cabins they have to rent out but from the link appear to be pretty decent. We might also have to try out the Zipline, longest in Kentucky from the description.
Excellent, we'll be about 1.5 miles from all the action down at the Rock Cabin campground. Think we'll be able to hear anything?
twr1776 and I (and another guy on a KLR) will most likely be staying in Bedford, Indiana Friday evening so as to facilitate an extra day of farting around in the hills.
We can highly recommend the Rosemount Motel in Bedford if any other northerners are interested in a similar plan. Extremely clean, cheap, and friendly.
Leaving Indy at 6:00 am Saturday morning to drone down 37 for three hours would suuuuuuuuuck...
Thanks for the cabin info Mr. Awesome and bw. Hope anyone else needing a shack can join the party there, but come on down to join the fire.
Mammoth Cave tours were a yearly thing for me and my boys when they were Cub scouts so I'll pass on the tour. The historic one is especially good. Shows the cabin in the cave where TB patients stayed to take in the healing vapors. Geeze...modern medicine.
Amy wants to zipline now. I kinda want to see the cave but we'd have to leave earlier than 11 to make it.
Anyone ask about the zipline? Wasn't it closed last year?
Dunno.....but looks dangerous to me.
Don't forget to add Big Mike's Rocks in there too. He better not close early again this year!
Ohhhhhhhhh noooooo I'll stick out like a sore thumb on the GS, beemer and yellow...........
Rock Cabins got trees for a hammock? Can't tell from the pictures of the cabins.
I do wanna stop by the rock shop and pick up a couple post cards,a new Mammoth Cave T shirt and some fudge though.
Hey now! lol :fyyff
I will be on my city slicker rig for this weekend.
So, you are driving down in the taurus... Right?
yep, and then they turn off the lanterns, you are in total darkness and then look up and you see what looks like stars (but are not).
Nope BLACK and YELLOW BMW.
I looked at last year's pics and most of the trees are spaced pretty far apart looks like. There is a swing-set that would work I suppose but that might be asking for it.
