Lets us see how many of ADV riders are in Romania, and from where.
Hey my dear friend, can I sign up here?
I am close enough to Romania and in past year I have spend more time there then at home. So I could be honorable romanian ADV rider! And as one I am the first on this list
See you soon my friend
Vrou - vrou mult..... dar sunt en Franta
I really want to be - but I'm stuck in France!
If I'm coming across I'll give you a shout.
honorific romanians, but it`s a verry good thing that you want to visit again my beautifull country.
When you are here just shout,
Absolutely - I will sit in Tura Dacilor ordering venison bourginon and drinking red from the daeul mare region in Tura Dacior in Poiana Brasov and give you a shout from the top of the hill so you and come and join us........
It is a beautiful country - but visitors be warned - avoid a drink called palinka and don't eat the bear steaks (bear is a pretty rank meat).
And you don`t have to shout to loud, my mother`s house is abaut 700 meters from Sura Dacilor.
By the way, congratulations for your romanian language skils.
I recently moved to Iasi, myself and a couple Romanian friends will have dual sports very soon and I look forward to exploring more of the country.
Let's connect sometime. Ma numesc Curt.
If you go down to Bucharest leave the bike behind.
Second traveller's trip for touists to Romania -
Assumes you are travelling with a friend called 'Marty'.
When buying food with a heavily laden Marty - arms full and hands occupied never ever utter the words 'Foot us a Pizza, Marty' in earshot of any Romanians - misunderstandings may ensue
That Marty thing flew right over my head! Must I get a Romanian buddy to translate? :huh
I was living in Bucharest for awhile. The traffic has gotten absolultely insane, is that why you said to leave the bike behind? Is bike theft there a concern?
Um - literally it means 'Go procreate with your mother's maternal anatomy.'
a less polite version of '..... with your mother's hat' (pelegria muhti) or '.... mother dead ancestors' (morti muhti). Muhti is IMHO a corruption of the german 'Mutti' - from the saxon population of the country. In fact - te entire thing adequately demonstrates the country's rich linguistic heritage.
(and yes Chioarla - you could be forgiven for thinking I have some Romanian connections - proud to be married to a romanian girl).
In a word - Yes.
I particuarly appreciate those who speed down the central part of the road with the tramways - nailing the horn and cutting across at the last possible moment without looking - that is so cool! Especially in a Hummer.
Swede studying medicine in Debrecen. Riding Aprilia Pegaso on road and KTM Adventure for DS and desert racing. Hard enduro on GG Ec 250.
Give me a buzz if you come to Brasov! I'm a student here
I can provide accomodation for one or 2 advriders. It's not much, but it's free and I have a backyard for the bikes.
P.S: Why avoid palinka?? It's great
I once drank a half litre o the stuff... i was in my mid-40's ..... it was a crap idea....
a glass or two is OK tho.
Well, Brasov already has quite a few - I thought there would be sign ins from Sibiu too.
I am Mihai.
Hi there! I already had the luck to meet in person the canadian advrider Ryan Budney, who stayed at my place for a couple of days. If you pass on Radauti, Bucovina, NE of RO, give a call 0040720306464.
I'm travelling through Romania in early May, any tips on do's and donts
what is the romanian for Bed and Breakfast accomadation ???
Tell us the area you're going to visit because the tips are different :)
What you mean about beds and accom.? You mean prices?
No, he means what is the word 'Pensione' in english (well sort of the other way round)
The only don't I have is don't ride the bike to bucharest.
assume petty theft is rife so don't leave your stuff unlocked vunerable.
don't change money on the street with men in black hats with moustaches (I kid you not).
Born in Baia Mare, currently in Cluj Napoca. Count me in :)
