Got the surgery done, for a report go to post #15... I am going in for arthroscopic surgery on my right shoulder to repair a partially torn rotator cuff next week. Its been coming for a long time, I just put it off until now so it was during the off-season for riding. The surgery will require that they detach the remaining tendon from the bone (only about 1/4 of the tendon is still attached and intact), clean up the rest and reattach the whole tendon with an anchor and sucher. I will be in a brace/sling for about a month and then will start rehabbing the shoulder. I'm told it will likely be about 4-6 months for the shoulder to start feeling good and a year for complete recovery with 100% strength. My hope is to be able to ride carefully come early May (3 mos. following surgery). I intend to "tone down" my riding style so I won't have to rely on a lot of heavy-duty shoulder use. Has anyone gone through this? Am I being realistic with this timeframe?
