Various stretches of Route 66 roadway.

That looks like the Devil's Elbow bridge. Looks the same as the one at Hazelgreen but it is a few inches shorter. ???

My notes list that as the Gasconade River Bridge near Hazelgreen. The Devil's Elbow Bridge over the Big Piney River is built with the same truss design so the picture is one bridge or the other. :thumb

I think Oklahoma has the best looking brick buildings along Route 66..... both County buildings and downtown stores.
Sorry, but I have no idea what cities these buildings are located in..... maybe some locals can identify them.....

Bridge abutments on the historic alignment east of Depew, Oklahoma. This was the route from 1926-1928. The truss was moved to the new alignment in 1928 and was then replaced in 1973.

Google “muffler men”. They were popular advertising at muffler shops holding, you guessed it, mufflers. Roadsideamerica.com has a section on their website listing locations of hundreds of muffler men.

I've been aware of the muffler men for many years but, the only other one I've seen in person is the one right down from the Cadillac Ranch in Texas. You'll notice in the link I provided earlier, they rotated his left hand around so they both point upward for better burger handling!

Lincoln, Il. The Mill was a restaurant on the mother road. It closed in 1996 and fell into disrepair. After 11 years of fundraising and work by many people, it is now open as a museum and gift shop. Website for the Mill: http://www.savethemill.org/ Thanks to groups like the Preservation Committee of the Illinois Route 66 Association, SOme things will be around for future travelers to see.
