Bringing a little bit of Rochester NY to Amboy CA in the form of a can of delicious "Our one brewery makes it best" Genny beer.
(I had a pic of myself with my previous Victory bike, taken in front of the famous Roy's sign in Amboy, published in Cycle World some years ago)

A few things from the thread, unfortunately all of my older pics are on a different computer but cover topics posted already:

-Bobby Troup who wrote the Route 66 song was also one of the doctors on the 70's show Emergency, as was his wife who played the nurse. It's on MeTV. He cannot act well.
-I've stopped in Shamrock TX, with the gorgeous deco Conoco station, many, many times along with Amarillo and The Big Texan. I usually stay overnight nearby.
-I make a point of stopping in the Blake's Lotaburger on old Rt 66 in Moriarty New Mexico whenever I travel by there on I-40. (It's a New Mexico only chain)
-I first came to SoCal in the late 80's and it was very "Okie" still. Most of the SoCal native friends I made in the Marines had grandparents who migrated here pre-WW2 or their parents came as little kids from back east post WW2 and were proud to be "Okies", regardless of where in the midwest/plains they were from. It is not Okie in any way shape or form out here now and I doubt most people living here would even get the reference.

I was putting along the road looking for things to take pictures of. I saw a car approaching in my mirror so I moved over on the shoulder. As I did, the flashing lights came on. As he got out, I hollered, "I just pulled over to let you by." He said they had reports of a biker in the road. I told him I was just riding around taking pictures of Route 66. He said to be careful, they didn't want anyone getting hit. He probably laughed as he drove away - I'm sure I wasn't the kind of "biker" he was expecting.
