    Hey there inmates,

I'm currently on the West side of Yosemite - about to cross Tioga and drop down into Death Valley.

I essentially have 2 weeks - and I'm overwhelmed with the amount of cool stuff and dirt roads to ride - so I'm asking for help.

Could you all help me plan a route that includes hot springs (Saline a must), Racetrack, Panamint Cabins, Gold Point, and whatever else I'm missing?

Assume I have 1 week in the desert (I'll take my time getting back).

I'm riding a 690 SMC with TKC80 front and K60 Rear. Fuel range is ~220 miles (5.5 gallons). I can carry ~ 18 liters of water

I'm looking for dirt, tarmac twisties, remote, some people to say hi to would be nice.

I have a Garmin GPSMAP 62s - and have a bunch of tracks loaded on t - but I'm looking more into big picture planning (though I'll take tracks....)

    Thanks in advance folks....

It is still a little early for Death Valley, check the temps.

For big picture download my Death Valley file on GPSXchange.com and plan your trip.

This time of year, I would (I am riding Mammoth/Bodie this weekend) ride the Sierras, Mammoth, Bridgeport, Mt Patterson, Carson Pass, etc. Fall Colors, over desert heat.

Hmm - I had considered the weather. Highs of 100 and lows of 70.

Not sure I've ever ridden too much in 100 degree weather - I remember having some epically hot days in Peru though a few years back...

I don't have a track to upload to gpxchange so I can't get access - I just got a GOS a few days back. Been paper mapping it the whole time.

Can you mail it directly to me?

I'm open to considering other options - that's the great part about solo travel - no one to check in with.

How much dirt can I ride on the areas you are suggesting and can you share a bit more info about routes....

Well those two reasons aren't quite enough to keep me out of Death Valley, In Big Pine for the night getting my DV bearings - sit tight for a ride report.

I heard they are always listed as closed to keep folks with minivans from getting stranded in the desert. Doesnt apply to ADV riders....

Or at least, that's what I'm told.

Must have missed Titus by a few days - it was closed today.

Taking your suggestions and heading North into Mammoth, Bodie, Carson, Bridgeport.

Got any more specific recommendations for routes?

Also - tried to click on your link....

Because of the federal government shutdown, all national parks are closed and National Park Service webpages are not operating. For more information, go to www.doi.gov.
