I'm in the market for a used 50cc Ruckus. Can anyone tell me if there is any difference or upgrades between model years outside of color changes. Are there any model years I want to avoid. I'm in the US and have my eye on a 2004 model. Thanks, Mark

The 2006+ models are a little faster. 2003-2005 bikes will top out around 37 MPH, whereas the later bikes will go about 43 MPH. I'm not exactly sure what changes were made, but I seem to recall hearing about some revisions to the cylinder head casting.

Other than that, they're pretty much all the same. Same suspension (undersprung,) same brakes (not spectacular,) same ergonomics, etc...

Thanks Colin, I'm also seeing pre-2006 are lacking proper crank case venting which causes things to get rusty in there. This is the stuff I'm looking for.

Since my intention from day one was to swap the engine, I wish I would've bought a 2003 and saved myself $1000. :lol3

    The Pre-2006 Models red-lined at 8000 RPM

The 2006 and Later models red-line at 8895 RPM. The extra 900 RPMs is what brings the top speed up.

You can modify a earlier model with a CDI, but thats a whole other issue.

I would look out for a 2006 or later model, built in performance upgrade!

As two wheeler sales of all types are currently tanking (yes, that's a bad pun about Chinese scooter co. Tank going out of business), there are some great deals to be had.

I don't know where you're located, but, for instance, here's a legitimate dealer in Tennessee selling left over '09 Ruckuses for $1588 OTD.

Well, its not like an account costs you anything.

I don't feel like recounting a whole thread for you, but someone confirmed one dealer with that low price on a couple '09's left in stock was in Clarksville, TN.

True, but then again I really didn't ask for a summary of the whole thread, just the name of the dealer, which ironically is much shorter than the number of letters you typed for your sarcastic reply. But thanks anyway, I appreciate the effort and look forward to returning the favor some day.

    Have a great day!

The dealer in Chattanooga sells cheap. I've bought a couple things from them and there any hidden fees. I don't know how they end up with all the leftover models but they've got hundreds of Hondas.

The place is nothing fancy, just a big high volume warehouse.

    Good luck
