This summer we had successful travel on the north of Russia.
    We have crossed 3 regions.
    Vologda,
    Kareliya,
    Peninsula Kola (Kolsky)

We wished to reach extreme northern point of Russia moving only on offroad,
without asphalt, to use only small local wood roads and footpaths.
Certainly, it turned out not always.

For this adventure were used BMW 800GS, BMW G650XCh Honda XR650 and 2 XR250.

Now that's some deep woods riding you've done there.. Looks like it's very tough going and there were only 3 of you to lift and push the bikes? :eek1

Thanks for sharing your adventure with us :thumb

    Great man!
Pate, could you tell me:Is this how looks a tipical russian "zimnik" in summer or is it more a "traktornaja"? (I m refering to the descriptions you can find on the russian oblast maps); If its a "zimnik" its usually most/all of the time like this?

How many km a day can you make in this beautifull mudd?

Looks like the very same XR was in vietnam, thats a hard working bike :D

This site has demanded 7 days.

The easier bike the better. You should carry with yourselves a lot of cargo,
    therefore is better use 650сс.
It either XR650 or BMW G650X Ch.

zimnik - is any frozen surface on which it is possible to go in the winter.
In the summer, on the same place there can be everything. Even an insuperable bog or lake.

If the road is "traktornaja", means on it can pass it:

Then you can hope to pass on bike

    in this mudd max 60-100km

Here we searched for lake Pizanece.

    It was so:

Lake Pizanece very beautiful, is located in gorge, it of a volcanic origin.

The last 800m it was necessary to go on foot.

reminds me of some of the 1st russian words I learned when I was there in 06,
    Russki darogi nyet horosho!
    (russian roads no good!)
I got alot of laughs with that line.
I'm going back again this summer, & am finally going to visit Moskva before heading east to Vladivostok. I cant wait!
