Hey all. I think Mike did drink Sailor Jerry Rum.

All the barrier islands over here including us under mandatory evacuation as of 3pm yesterday. Causeway bridges remain open until winds hit 40mph. We planned to leave for Macon yesterday but kept running later and later securing the house. By dinner time the storm track changed enough and gas shortages/traffic looked grim so we are keeping the car packed and watching each update. Beginning to look like we are staying though like most of this neighborhood. Kind of like Mathew last year. Publix stayed open until noon today and I grabbed a few food supplies. No gas to be found anywhere at all though.

Almost time for the 2pm update. The current forecast continues to look better for staying here instead of fighting traffic and looking for gas. Interestingly the slowing of forward motion keeps pushing the timing of max winds & rain later and later into Monday for us.

Committed to put up plywood on my elderly neighbor's house tomorrow

Guess I may even get some metal and two-bys for here

Our windows are rated pretty decently, thinking about 100 mph minimum

Predicting 84 mph winds just east of us

Just hope my trees hold up
It was Jerry that first brought a bottle of Sailor Jerry, Phillup Kuntz :nod

Yeah Mike didn't drink Sailor Jerry... I remember the Kim and Jerry brought that Sailor Jerry rum first...
Anyway it seriously looks bad for the West Coast of Florida. I have hopes of this storm moving more westward and avoid raking the coast....
Trees have fallen in Miami already and we haven't had much yet in the way of wind... I also don't understand the power outages in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties as conditions haven't been bad yet.
Anyway hoping for the best here..
    Be safe guys!!

Good luck with it Alan and everyone else. Hhmmm, did Mike drink Pusser's Rum by any chance? Or Crown Royal? I have a mental image of a bottle with those shapes but not the mental image of the brand.

Mike told me that is was a single malt of sorts and that it was cheap..LOL! I had a few sips and I liked it.. The reason why I was asking was because of our booze runs for this storm....

Mike definitely drank Old Crow. I bought a bottle to toast to him at the next Scrub after he passed.
He and Mata spent many hours in the kitchen drinking Old Crow and talking. Those times were what got him to open up up about his time in country and losing his squad.

Good on ya both. Mike seemed to find people he could be comfortable around as himself at the Scrub and have a drink. He needed to have those kinds of friends that understood. I believe he exercised more self imposed restraints almost everywhere else. I'm proud of how he accepted me and we bonded by often stepping up to tend the smoker together during appetizers and into the rib extravaganza together. Still miss him.

Those old Scrub times were truly a special moment in time that couldn't be duplicated today if we wanted to. Cheers to Mike.

I hope all y'all make it through this storm asnunscathed as you can. Good luck and let us DOGs know if y'all need anything. I don't check Adv often anymore but Keep us posted.

By the way, Sinner aka Monk aka Mark was the one that introduced me to Sailor Jerry. He kept it in that little travel bar suitcase thing he always had with him.

Yes we were lucky here too. Never lost power for more than a minute or two. The only damage we have are trees and shrubs, big whoop... The Keys are another story though. My buddy is driving down to Tavernier with gas water and generators to clear his neighborhood as his house is fine but the debris from trees is massive. His girlfriend's house has power as her 'hood didn't have the forrest that destroyed the powerlines in my friend's area....

Glad to hear that. Not everything in the Keys is totally destroyed. Some areas have been hit harder than others obviously but I'm getting feedback from my friends that, yes it's a mess but no not all is lost either... My friend's yard, where I kept my skiff, needed a clipping anyway so he took a chipper down and is finally getting around cutting some trees out that needed to go anyway...

Oh, cancelled the payment on my credit card for the smoker I ordered

Dude told me it would be done in six weeks and I cancelled the payment on the 90th day

Don't know what I'm going to do

Only wish I could get the most perfect smoker to fill our needs
