Looks like the Green Egg minus the 6 gazillion $ price tag...
Yea. Might have to look at one when I need to replace one of my Weber grills
Get one and you'll end giving away the weber and the smoker, like I did, it's that good. One of the best features is that it is nearly impossible to dry out a piece of meat, I like to think of it as a pressurized smoker.
We just now got back on Spectrum internet/tv/landline. Lost 240V power in the storm but had 120V to the whole house thanks to a shorted line and neutral upstream from us. Got all power back Friday and again Saturday after a breeze blew a limb or big bamboo into the lines again and knocked down everything the crew from Iowa had repaired the day before. They finished their Saturday's job in time to get back to our street and fix it all over again before dark. Great guys! The foreman told me not to get them beer because they were on call so I got them three cases of Snapple & lemonade.
Only damage was 16 feet of fence down in back and 8 other posts leaning outward that have to be straightened up. Figured out how to do that last year after Mathew made 3 posts lean outward.
Taking my time with this cleanup. Getting older and slower.
Yeah don't get a coronary in this heat.. Nothing material is worth that.
Old timers hint.
Bout 25 years ago I built 7 foot high privacy fence. On recommendation from neighbor I did NOT concrete posts except at gates and corners. Now fence blows over but does not shear poles. Just push it back in place.
Yes the concreted poles do snap and it's a bitch to repair but better than all of them. Good luck to you all during the recovery.
I totally agree.
I put up my previous fence in 1998 in coordination with my former neighbor doing his. I deliberately didn't concrete any posts for the same reasons. This fence I had built on site, board on board by a contractor who had done a good job on one around the block from me. They always concrete the posts so I figured why not let them do it their way. This yellow fill sand we're built on is so loose its not much harder to straighten concreted post - just dig a little bigger relief hole for the concrete lump, then tamp it tight. And the dirt is loose enough they never snap. Just lean in the wind. That's pretty much why I didn't push hard to skip the concrete.
Over the "winter" cooler weather I may put intermediate posts between the posts on the back/north side so they are on four foot centers just on that side. There's a county storm water ditch about 4 feet behind that back fence which seems to allow those posts to shift no matter where a big storm track passes by here because there is always a south wind at some point.
Guess it's time to get a head count on how many y'all are coming to camp for Crabtoberfest?
Thinking the day after the crew gets to Old Homosassa
For those that don't want to ride back across immediately
Or the day of, doesn't matter: just need a head count about the middle of October
What is this Crabtoberfest you speak of?
There's a cross Florida ride the last part of October and it ends in Old Homosassa
Thought I'd get stone crab and have 'em at my camp in Weeki Wachee
Just need to figure out when and how much to get
Hhmmm.... I was going to try and make it up to the Old's Cool Rally in Tellico Plains in October even if I have to drive. May have to reevaluate. Either way I'm driving more than riding these days. Partly because I've ridden all the roads and partly because I'm effing tired of maintenance on these bikes.
Not to mention the blue hairs over here and everywhere else are getting scarier and scarier despite my Fiamm Dual Blasters.
Alan, post up a drop dead date for the head count once you figure out exactly when to have it.
I need for y'all to tell me when you're coming
Doesn't matter if it's Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday
Just need to know
JD, are you planning on staying at the camp that Saturday?
We can even have crab multiple days if need be
My friend (kilmern) and I are riding the trans Florida part deux and were gonna camp at The Swamp, eat crabs and drink IPA's if you have room for us. Let us know. We look forward to it if you can accommodate us.
Ok, so if I'm following everything correctly, this will happen the weekend of Oct 28-29? Yes?
I have to get the remainder of a basal cell carcinoma carved out of my left ankle on Oct 27 first thing in the morning. My third one in 16 years. And not the first(or even the second) minor surgical exercise right before heading out to an ADV soiree.
So count me in if those are the dates. I need to get out of the house and see some friends.
OK, then Saturday it is
That's fine with me
Crabtoberfest is on for Saturday, October 28th
Those of y'all that want to come Friday
I'll be there
It's on for Saturday
See Ya At The Swamp
If y'all are lucky maybe
I'll make crab bisque and crab salad
At least crab salad
Need to save the shells from Saturday Night and make crab bisque Sunday
Hope we have good weather for camping
Although Kitchen is bigger than the one at The Scrub
