    Hi Guys

It had been a hot week in Adelaide leading up to ride day, luckily the weather cooled for us with predictions of 14 -33C
    with slight cloud cover.:clap

CharlieW made what seemed a stupid comment :augie about it would rain :huh & he was laughed down at the time ....:poser
    As arranged the following keen riders (L to R) arrived looking for adventure: Sol; Masterbrewer (invisible :evil ); DrBlue;
CharlieW & Kano650 (new member) looked forward to a good day on the dirt which we were on within 5kms of the start.

Top of the range, CharlieW commented on how slippery that section of road was, but I suggested possible other reasons, as I've seen him ride Blockers before: :lol3

Nevertheless onward we rode on the old "Coopers Car Rally" roads.............smooth, undulating, fast & flowing...........just sensational riding
    :ricky :rayof :rilla :wings :webers
    [IMG]

An earlier stop that usual for juice but, hey!... what the heck, it's all good :clap
    [IMG]

Had someone mentioned rain? :bow ........nice soaking drizzling rain :deal
CharlieW showing us his "rain dance" technique :poser

and then you go like this:rilla

We made good time to our proposed lunch destination, so we tackled a few extra tracks north east of Mt Pleasant.................Kano650 was eagerly rearing to attack them, having successfully surviving 4 bridge crossings to this point :poser

    Mt Pleasant bakery as planned

HumanOne & Deb joined us for a while from Tungkillo on a way too clean "Adventure" bike & as it was Deb's first ride on dirt, Pete didn't want to spoil a good friendship too soon.

Hey guys wait up, I can't get the gate latch closed here :eek1 ....... :poser

I'm confused, is this single track or double track :lol3

    Kano650

the single track "Dominator" in action

    DrBlue smooth style

    Sol looking "Mr Cool"

Strands of the clutch cable started breaking on the TDM so I avoided the single track & fortunately for that, it completedly snapped a further 2 k's on :(: which meant I couldn't risk stopping unless on a very "Steep Hill Road" :evil ...:lol3

No worries only 120kms from home :huh but fabulous views over the Bremer Valley all the same..:raabia

    Looking south west

Camera opportunities were limited from then on as I couldn't risk stopping too often, coz the guys would need plently of this :lift to push start the ol' bastard
    [IMG]

Onya bikes fellas, remember I can't stop

The dirt roads finished at Verdun & I luckily made it home through the city traffic without stalling or stopping.

    Check out the map to see where the photo's were taken;

Everyone had a good time & so that only leaves one question..................when's the next ride?

    Cheers

Thanks MB for organising the ride.:thumb

I realy enjoyed myself, with the only minor problem being lack of vision through constant wet dirty goggles and then seeing a corner fast approaching at the very last second, will definately wear my full face helmet next time me thinks.:norton

The scenary along the way at some of the lookouts was sensational, the photos dont really do them justice.

Loved that deep sandy single track, could have riden that all day long, I guess that's where my knobby rear tyre became an advantage & I got to the the meeting area a bit sooner than was anticipated and I wondered if I was in the correct meeting spot for a while until I spotted the trusty TDM coming down the dirt road towards me.

Must admit it the knobby rear tyre was very skitish at the start of the day on those slippery gravel dirt roads, got sideways far more times than I liked.

All up had a great days rode and looking forward to the next one.

    Cheers, Sol..

    Great day out MB :clap

Nice meeting you guys. I found the ride a good mix of sandy single track, rocky hill climbs, open gravel and winding dirt roads there was always something to keep it interesting. It was an edumacation on some of tha trail riding poTential of the Adelaide Hills. :thumb :loaded

Well navigated too by the way.

Slept well after the 300km bash on dirt. Only just got around to washing the bike yesterday:huh

    Cheers

Great to meet Kane and Final be in the majority (two DR 650)
I had one toilet break all day (not bad for my age) and you get a picture of me having it.

    Another masterful ride report masterbrewer.

Excellent pictures too from all the photographers. With a bit of luck I can get the camera back from the wife for the next ride.

P.S. - I promise not to mention rain before the next ride.

Thanks mate, yeah its certainly good to be back on the bike, my leg and ankle is still a bit sore & tender from the injuries & is now full of steel and titanium, I think my confidence has reduced somewhat as a result too.

I have told fethers that I wont be able to do this year's Rickaby Ride but I will be back for next year's for sure.:D

From what I hear there are good numbers again this year, quite a few folk from DBW are going & a small group from our club (Ariel MCC) are going too....still pissed off that I cant attend....ah well thems the breaks I guess.:kurt

Have a fun ride & im sure all attending will have a great night on the Sat night at Rickaby.

    Cheers, Dave.:thumb
