Don't forget you can ride in the bicycle lane for upto 100m if turning left... Except sometimes you might change your mind at the end
Bicycle lanes are for (slow) bicycle riders. I keep seeing idiots on motorbikes and scooters filter up to the traffic lights on the left of cars, using the bicycle lanes. I expect this'll end in tears for the majority of these fools, going by the way in which this maneuver is usually performed. Car driver's have a very low tolerance for normal filtering by riders. Illegally overtaking them on the left using bicycle lanes will soon see someone deliberately knocked from their bike and police reacting by clamping down on any and all filtering maneuvers, whether performed legally or not. Driving (riding motorised vehicles (which include the new wave of "Eco hippy douches" on powered bicycles)) in bicycle lanes is illegal. Keep doing it and you're simply pushing for that extra Police attention and motorist contempt.
You can't overtake a vehicle on the left of that vehicle unless the vehicle is turning right or you're travelling in a second lane to the lane occupied by the other vehicle, ie, left lane of a multiple lane road. You can overtake a vehicle whilst travelling in the same lane, provided you overtake that vehicle on it's right side. That means you must keep your wheels to the left of the lane line when filtering between stationary rows of traffic on multiple lane carriageways.
As I was pointing out however this is actually LEGAL in the regulations, its clearly written last time I checked that ANY vehicle can occupy the bicycle lane if they are turning LEFT with in something like 50-100m at a intersection etc, not that most people are doing it for this reason but once I did it and I was like wow... first time I legally did that
Yup, these are good advise, not just good for thought...
I Woz just being rhetorical.
My bad humour.
