So am I hearing its impassable from robinson to donner? and also, there is a slide between the tunnels? was planning a route that involved the tunnels, and riding the old track bed all the way around the lake to cold creek, then catching a dirt road out to 89... maybe mid Sept. We have a cabin in Tahoma, looking to start in placerville, loop through robinson, then salt springs, donner tunnels, hwy 89 to north lake.

It's all doable, soda springs road is completely clear. The washout between the tunnels is rideable depending on skill level. I rode through it on my 200 and a buddy on his 250.

Tiger Creek road is closed at the hydroelectric plant. That's a few miles east of Pioneer. We were trying to go east into the forest. Sign said "unpassable." Likely due to washouts. Bill and I had a good ride exploring other places anyway.

What insurance co. do you guys like for multiple bikes? Nationwide is taking too much now that I have 4 bikes insured. Need to shop around.

Be careful exploring behind "Road Closed" signs. If you get caught and are polite, they will probably just tell you to leave.
If they decide to make it a big deal - the fines are very steep.

They are doing a lot of work back there. Lots of the roads slid into the canyons, and they are doing many repairs.
It is a high priority as PG&E has their Salt Springs power plant back there.

It is a fun area - but in summer that canyon is way hot. Really hot.

I prefer to ride up higher this time of year.

Hey guys, Auburn checking in! I've been off dual sports for 6 years but finally decided to get back into it. I just picked up a '99 ATK 605 in great shape. I'm still getting to know it, but would like to get out sometime this Fri-Sun if anyone wants to get together.

BeeDub, I'm doing the same thing getting back into riding with a 13 plated Husaberg. I'm in Georgetown if you want to meet up and ride the rock creek area or China wall Saturday or Sunday morning.

Sounds good, Saturday works best if that's good with you. I'm not very familiar with those areas. Been riding all my life, but would prefer to stay away from real technical stuff for my first ride back on this big bike. What kind of trails are we talking?

Anyone else who's interested, turn&burn and I are meeting at 9am Saturday in front of Worton's store on Main St in Georgetown.

Disclaimers: I have a good amount of experience off-road, but it's been awhile and this is a shakedown ride for me on this (older) bike. I'll be limited to about 90 miles between fuel stops. I've never ridden with turn&burn, nor do I know the trails he's planning, but maybe he can give us a better idea. I'm NOT looking to ride tight single-track, hanging off the edges of cliffs on this ride.

Ok so I'm open to riding the easier single track and or the forest svc roads. I am looking to meet some new riding buddies and get seat time in on a regular basis so I ride the Jackhammer Enduro this fall without becoming one massive cramp.
