for those of you talking about tiger creek and salt springs... I have a local buddy that lives near there, says their real serious this year about the road closures, posted signs for a $4k fine for anyone caught inside. fair warning.

Speaking of closed roads.... it looks like the tracks on that GPX you uploaded are going on Eleven Pines between Wentworth Springs and Mosquito Ridge. Eleven Pines is closed.

Can anyone provide a screenshot of where the closure is and a good alternative route to get around the closure?

I'm working on a weekend trip, this is Day 1

GPX attached, or you can download a kml here.

    Any advice is appreciated.

It's basically the entire road that is closed. I think at this point if you want to go up Soda Springs you have to make your approach from either Foresthill Divide Rd or Robinson Flat Rd from Mosquito Ridge Rd.

I am fairly certain there is no motorized way across other than HWY 193 to the west or HWY 89 to the east, and they say it may not be fixed this year.
Pics posted a while back in this thread of the slide on eleven pines - between the closed signs... if that was crossing your mind. No good solution.

Sounds good. Are you thinking pack a lunch, or do you think we'll end up close enough to Truckee to go in for a bite? I ask because the last time I went riding with someone starting from where we are, we ended up in Truckee.

I'm not understanding this section of your GPX (yellow line), there's no trail or road there??? I'm also trying to find a way around the "giant hole" in Eleven Pines Road.

Thank you luv2lean and motokeith for responding. I've been following the thread and the other posts about "the hole" in Eleven Pines, it's just nobody actually posts the coordinates/exact location of where the hole is. A few mentions of riding around it and finding further damage, but no solutions or info about trying to circumvent it. If I'm to understand correctly, the hole is west of the bridge over the Rubicon, and there's no other trail that will connect you to that bridge.Based on your comments, I guess my only options are what's shown in the following attachment (the big blue loop).

According to OSM/Google Maps/Garmin Topo, there are a couple options for riding between Route 88 and Route 4. Can anyone please advise if this is still possible? I'm concerned that private property or road closures will not allow you to get through?

Check out this map. https://www.fs.fed.us/r5/webmaps/StormDamage2017/ Eleven Pines has many different areas of road damage. I have not heard of anyone making it all the way through.

Your "Option 2" on this map, Blacksmith Flat Rd to Ralston, is listed by the FS as closed and impassible due to a large slide.

Your other option, which might be attractive from a time standpoint considering the big westward go-around you have to do, is to stay on Foresthill Rd all the way to the end and get onto Soda Springs Rd there (at Robinson Flat Campground) rather than going down Mosquito Ridge Rd and around behind French Meadows Reservoir.

Do note on your journey westward from Wentworth Springs that you do not need to cross over I-80 and go into Auburn. When 193 hits 49 you will take a right and eventually cross a bridge over the middle fork of the American River, at which point you take a right turn and take Old Foresthill Rd up to Foresthill Divide Rd. This will save you a fair amount of time screwing around in traffic.

Also, since you are coming down Wentworth Springs be sure to stop at Uncle Tom's Cabin for a refreshing beverage and some rustic charm. There will be a sign on your left pointing down a dirt driveway just before you get to Eleven Pines.

A ride to eat is my favorite kind of ride, but Truckee has not crossed my mind. I was thinking Pollock Pines. We can leave Georgetown on Georgia Slide Rd to Bottle Hill, Mace Mill, trails 1, 1-2 and make our way down rock creek rd to mosquito rd & sand mtn rd. From that intersection I think there is trail that puts us onto Forebay Rd over Poho Ridge. Forebay will take us into Pollock Pines. Looking at the forest svc link above the only road damage impassible is Slab Creek. https://www.fs.fed.us/r5/webmaps/StormDamage2017/ If anyone knows this area and to wants to come along or lead, the more the merrier. 9 a.m. Worton's Georgetown.

wow, ok, I didnt look at that carefully, I built the route with google maps, and google maps shows a trail there, but when I zoom in and look at the Sat image... "there aint shit". so yeah, i would have to divert around down 11 pines. but i hear theres a hole.... where?

I know the route through forest hill, just thought it would be fun to explore the back country up behind georgetown etc. Ive taken 49 to foresthill many times, either by way of placerville, or salmon falls..... just trying to do something new.

Doubt the route down Georgia Slide/Bottle Hill is open either. A massive gate was installed out there after the fire last year on Bottle Hill.

I'm confused now... I was replying to Smackit. Are you you two planning a ride together?
