I've had the SMH10 since it came out, and used it with my iPhone(s).

I now have a GS3. I'm pretty sure it can do voice commands, but I can't figure out how to do it. All I really want is to be able to listen to a text if it came in. I hear it bong, but I can't figure out how to access. I don't need to be able to reply. I'd love to just be riding along. Hear a text come in, hit a button to listen so I know if I need to fly back to work or take my time.

    Anyone?

I don't think there's a button combo that can be used to open incoming texts, so I use an app called eCID, which is configured to automatically read the incoming texts over the Bluetooth connection from a GS2 to the SMH10.

I think you have to have the voice command in Auto (Driving?) mode to have it speak texts messages to you. I have a S2 and have made it work, but if I remember correctly, if I have it automatically go to driving mode when the headset connects, then I had problems starting music in my doubletwist app. Been a while since I played with it. Plus your version of android makes a difference when it comes to giving voice commands. Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) broke it in that you had to unlock the screen for it to accept voice commands. Jelly Bean (4.1) fixed it.

I have a third party app call DriveSafe...it works ok but you have to remember to activate it before you go for a ride...

I can use voice commands to make calls and even send a text using S-voice.

On my S3, I can go to Settings->Accessibility->Text to speech->Driving Mode. That states that it will speak text messages.
This is probably the same as just pulling down the taskbar and selecting driving mode. Don't know, don't use it.

I use an app called "klets" on my android phone. It will read new text messages to you and allow you to send them as well. You can also use it to start your music app as well as a bunch of other stuff.

Works pretty well, though I have an older android phone so it crashes on occasion.

You can set it to be the default app that opens when you push the "phone" button on your Sena.

At the moment, what app opens when you hit the phone button?
