. Hello guys and gals. I'm coming down to San antonio for the next 5 weeks. Unfortunately I won't have a bike as its a work gig. Such is life! I'll be staying at the residence inn, which I believe is right on the river walk. I'll have acces to a car most of the time. Working most days, but looks like I'll be wrapped up around 6 everyday, and a few down days here and there. So, what do I need to see? Eat? Drink? Thanks! Dave
We spent some time at San Antonio recently. If you like mexican food and great margaritas hit Rosarios. It's not far off the Riverwalk and an easy walk. Rosario's Mexican Cafe Y Cantina 910 S Alamo St, San Antonio, TX 78205 (210) 223-1806 https://g.co/kgs/uHPKD
I lived around San Antonio for 11 years. If you have wheels, of any kind go check out the missions. The Alamo gets all the attention, but the other missions are more intact and in a less city central location. Visit the McNay Art Musesum, first modern art museum in Texas, also the grounds are beautiful, use to be a private residence the building is in a spanish style. Check out the San Antonio Museum of Art. I like Gringos, there was a place on Broadway, I think it was Tomatillo's and Pico de Gallo are good places to eat. Head out of town to LoneStar Motorcycle Museum, its located out in the hill country so it is a nice ride. Personally, I use to avoid the Riverwalk, its crowded and overpriced.
Thanks guys! I rolled in today. So far I'm not in love, but I have 36 days to change my opinion I guess!
Assuming you have transportation. Downtown go to Mi Tierra. La Fogata is great Mexican food too imo, I love sitting outside in cool weather like now. If you go to the Riverwalk, go Sunday morning when all the tourists are gone and you can enjoy the peace and quiet. Go out to Bandera and eat at the OST (Old Spanish Trail), you might remember it from the Kawasaki ads years ago. For cigars go to Fincks and sit around and get to know some people. The Helotes store is the friendliest. Stop by the Alamo but don't expect to be impressed, and then you just might be because you won't go in with all these movie-led expectations. For breakfast, you can't beat Magnolia Pancake House. Outside SA there's everything from the best tacos which are in Boerne, the most beers which is a rundown place called Hills & Dales Icehouse. Fredericksburg is a cool town to visit for a day. So is Comfort. So is Luckenbach, go out on a Saturday or Sunday and sit out under the trees and meet some folks. That's a start anyway, there are lots of threads on what to do and see, opinions vary. Also visit Two Wheeled Texans website,...more threads on the SA area and things to do and places to eat.
