Sargent Seat does NOT honor their 30 warranty. I get to loose 15% ($70) because their cover fitting is such that after 1 hour of riding has creases in the pocket of the seat. As I see it this is an inferior design. I returned the seat because it was not any more comfortable than the stock. They tell me this makes it a used seat and they can not resell it. Well no shit dumb ass. What is the point of the 30 days if they do not expect it to see a few miles. They even told me that on the phone, "make sure you get some time on the seat because we don't want you on a seat you don't like." Well guess
    what......

    Mr. Bane,

We have received your returned seat and we are forwarding the photographs our R&D department have taken of the damaged seat cover. Our 30 day return policy states like new condition for a refund on a returned seat. As you can see in the photos that is not the case, therefore we will be charging a 15% restocking fee. If you have any questions please contact us.

    Thank you!

    also

    Mr. Bane,

Clearly the photos we took show that there is a boot scuff mark on the seat and symmetrical creases on both sides of the seat. The policy states that the seat must be returned in like new condition, this seat is not in like new condition.

Get yourself an XPC Racing seat. I believe you will find the customer service excellent, and most importantly the seat to be superior to the stocker.

Seems like pretty crappy service to me. So they hose you for 70$ and lose a customer for life///maybe a few potential customers when you spread the word. Not smart on their part. Go XPC, I did and am super happy.

    What's worse... being a "tight-ass" or a "sore-ass" :pot

Just kidding... If I was willing to shell out the big $$$ for a new seat, I think I would lean to the Renazco. I know a couple very happy customers posted some SWEEEET pics on here.

This post reminds me of stuff I used to see at the Oilheads forum before I bought my 800. I have owned 4 Sargent seats and am happy with each. You buy one, you damage it by scuffing it with your boots, and you bitch because they charge you 15% because they have to replace the upholstery. Maybe you should be required to ride across the county on a stock seat. You would defiantly appreciate the Sargent after that. Dave

I think his beef is with the 30 day satisfaction guarantee. Use something for 30 days and it will no longer look new. He is not just returning a product he ordered by mistake. What they are really offering is a 30 second guarantee. You really see a company's true colors when a problem crops up.

    I agree with Motoriley.

I saw the seats up close a the Redmond Rally, and was very disappointed in their construction. There was a serious gap between the fabric and the seat foam at the crease in the low part of the seat. I thought it was put together poorly, and I have been happy with two other Sargent seats. The seat that wa returned wasn't going to be sold to someone else, anyway, due to poor workmanship. Charging 15% seems silly, IMHO. I wouldn't order from Sargent again based on what they have done here.

    But that's just me.

    UPDATE

The boss said, "give him his money".

Not sure why maybe it was because I pointed out that the web site makes no mention of the 15%.

I should have my money which I think is going to pay a credit card instead.

That would be my point EXACTLY. Oh and I have done 600 mile days on the stock seat which is why I now walk funny. :D I just got my full length Alaska Leather, lets see how that does while I wait for my January build of a Renzaco.

I am going to check, but it looks like they have updated their web site to include the 'like new' verbage. I downloaded their entire public site the other day to parse for that phrase and I am quite sure it was not there before.
