    Hi all
I got a cheap (navig8r) gps that comes with no software. I can record & upload files to google maps but whats the best way to save them locally? Can anyone point me in the right direction of what software to use. I figure you need a Garmin to use mapsource.

    Thanks

You can use mapsource independently of Garmin units.
It is just software, downloadable for free from various sites.
You can also download shonkymaps and tracks4australia for free, and mapsource will work with them.
Mapsource only speaks to Garmin GPS units though, so I seriously doubt that you can load files DIRECTLY from mapsource to or from your GPS, but as a "mass-storage" device you may be able to drag'n'drop the .gpx files both ways.

    Just a suggestion to try.

Thanks silla, will give it a go. I know I can get the files out of the unit & view on google, just gotta work out if I can put routes into it. Will have a play tonight, to nice a day to be indoors.
