I'm just starting to play with saving OSM maps to basecamp, using these directions.

I'll be in Europe for a month this summer in the UK, Greece and Germany. I don't want to download all of Europe. that will just take up too much space on my phone that I won't need.

It works great and the maps are nice. The problem I'm having is how to save multiple maps. When I install one set of maps, it replaces the other one under the "OSM Generic Routing" title. I tried renaming it, but can't find how.

If you go to the FAQ section of the website, there is a method to do that by renaming the file. Looks like it requires a secondary application to do it, and it might be unit specific (or at least update specific) so I don't know if it'll work for you but it's probably worth a look.

Use either JavaWa OSM Combiner or JavaWa Map GMTK / Device Manager to change the family ID of all but the first OSM map.

If you have multiple OSM maps with even one identical tile in them, JavaWa OSM Combiner is the way to go - Basecamp, and many Garmin GPS devices - don't like having the same tile in multiple maps.

Thanks, but the funny part is now I'm only getting one map. No matter how many times I re download a new map, the same one always pops up. Clearly, I'm doing something wrong, but don't know what it is..

Alright I figured this out and have the maps I need in Basecamp. Search seems to suck even worse now than it did with Garmin maps.

Any tips? I can't find any addresses. I can't find any businesses? I can't find anything using the search tool. I know basecamp sucks anyway for this, but it seems to suck even more using OSM maps.

Is there any way to search on google and save it to Basecamp?

OSM is a open source community based database for rendering maps, Their all work for free so the database is for free, do not blame the osm mappers, that not everything is there yet, if it is not there, feel free to sign in donate by mapping and tagging, so someone else can not complain that your housenumber is not in the database.
