This is on Butter Street just outside of Landrum at Lake Lanier
Well at 8:30 I decided that I could not let the Tag sit anymore and decided that I should go after it.
I went up Wade Hampton to 14 and then 176 in Landrum. On the way I saw the wagon wheel tag from a couple months ago but didn't stop to take a picture because I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time to find the tag I was after. I got to Butter Street and had to ride a while before I found it. Not a fun road to ride after dark.:eek1 Not really sure where I was going but according to Google Maps the "Ache Around the Lake" course only crosses the state line in 2 places so I figured it would not be to hard to get.
I got the pic and headed back out to 176. On the way back I saw this former tag.
and stopped to take this pic
I got back to Gowensville and took a pic at this former tag
At this point I decided to take 11 over to 25 instead of going back through Greer. I got about 1 mile down the road and the road started getting really wet. No rain but just really wet. Just before I turned south on 25 I decided to stay on 11 and see if I could find this tag.
I got back on the road and headed south on 25. The road was dry I was just cruising along. All of a sudden I started to get a few drops on me. I figured it would stop in a few seconds. Not!!! Within about 30 seconds I was soaked to the bone.
Maybe I am screwed up in the head, but the more It rained the more fun I had.
It was raining so hard that I was passing cars going slow with their flashers on.:eek1
I started to worry about my GPS, Phone, and Camera getting wet so I pulled into the Spinx station on 25 and put them in a ziplock bag.
I was already soaked so I got right back on the road. By the time I got to Furman the roads were dry. I passed through a couple of more showers and pulled in my driveway just as it was starting to rain at my house.
Ok, for this tag we are going to go on a hunting safari. This is located in a town where a breed of large cat goes to feed on a form of poulty. This hunting migration only takes place every 2 years. This is at a place where you could purchase all the supplies you need for a hunting trip and across the street from a place that you could buy the perfect vehicle to take on a safari.
Bored today, cbolling? I kinda know where the new tag is, but work and other responsiblities have been killing me lately. I swear I'll update the google map with the new tags when I get the time.
Hope this one stays 'til Saturday! That's a good one Cbolling, maybe it'll get a certain someone back in the game that hasn't been heard from in a while.
I'd have to say if there is an award for re-shooting the most number of old tags in one trip...you win!!
Congrats on the tag at the lake. Its a little tricky during the day up there so I imagine at night it was reallya "shot in the dark".
New tag is clever.
I'm on my way!
Dang Cboiling, when you go, you go all out! And wow, speaking of safari, you have got a memory like an elephant to get pick up all those former tags.
I'm sitting here with my foot in ice water hoping that I can slip my foot into my moto boots tomorrow, after taking a fast ball to the ankle. Darn, why the heck did I turn my leg to the side and not let the guards take the impact
That sucks about the ankle. I am sure that hurt.
I had not planned on getting any other tags but when I rode by they looked familiar. I knew where the water wheel was and the brown building on 11 was but I had no idea that I was close to the Esso Station I had just gotten the tag and was heading for home when I saw it. I did a u turn and went back for it. I actually thought that I was still in North Carolina at the time because the Welcome to South Carolina sign is a couple hundred yards up the road. I checked on Google when I got back and sure enough it is in S.C. I guess those welcome signs are not always on the line.:huh
I know where this is
This is near Cola-town. A family that used to own a lot of this area had these ( there are 4 standing). The family made what they are made of.
Good job on the tag. The old tag was Sportsman's Warehouse at 480 Piney Grove Rd. Columbia, SC
This new one looks tough.
Did you not read the rules, this is the Upstate Tag, now bring it back where it belongs !
I may have to call in sick to work tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I know where that one is, and I'm sure I can find an obscure new tag in the middle of some dank swamp down here...
Nah I want it in the midlands for awhile so I can play for a little bit.
I've Google-jockeyed it, I think. Do I have time to go grab it?
Researching this was interesting. Cool tag.
All the best,
Good job, Chris. I googled for a good while and couldn't come up with anything. I couldn't find the previous tag either, although I did get in the right neighborhood.
I must have an older version of Google or something because I can't figure this one out either.:huh
Wow I actually found this one by Googling it....in fact it was in one of those geocahing games. Too bad I'm not comfortable riding further then 5 miles from the house by myself yet....I know, I'm a pussy. But I'm taking another class next month with my hubby and hopefully we'll be doing alot of riding together while he is home.
I know where it is but I thought they had torn those brick ovens down for new construction (recently). When was this picture taken?
