Gonna head out tomorrow on a big bike ride with Youngblood. I'm thinking the usual meetup spot (BP gas station on the corner of Ooltewah Ringgold rd & East Brainerd rd)with kickstands up at noon. It should up to freezing by then.:lol3 Anybody else?:ear

Damn, I would but I've got the Tenere torn apart doing the 26k valve check. I started it this evening and plan to finish it up tomorrow. There is no way I could get it put back together in the morning unless I stayed up late tonight, and that ain't happening. Y'all have fun, and remember, safety third.

Def riding the 990 and bringing extra fuses for the heated grips! I rode the 1190 up the mountain (3mi) around 5pm tonight and almost had to pull over as my hands were frozen! That hurts!

Today there were 3 of us, Jim (whose username I can't remember 'cause he never posts), Youngblood, and yours truly. We headed east on the back roads to Cisco and quickly were in the woods.

Youngblood's hands were so cold he used the wrong finger for this pose.:evil

Preparing to do battle with the dusty/muddy conditions.
We rode up FS221 past the Sylco campground and took the shortcut over to FS302. Unfortuntely, this fine stretch of jeep road is now a (fist sized gravel)mess due to the recent logging they've been doing.
We came upon this pickup in the middle of the road and were wondering what the ...?:huh
Looking the other way explained the situation better.

The logger had us through there in less than a minute.:clap
Shortly thereafter, we popped out onto FS302 and Youngblood proceeded to bury Jim and I in a cloud of dust. At one point I had to back off after losing the front on a patch of ice and barely saving it with the left foot.:eek1 We ended up doing 30 miles of dirt/gravel and nobody crashed. All in all a great day to be out riding. Looking forward to the next one... and seeing Youngblood's new 1190R.

A great ride gents. Thanks for leading the route Monty!

No crashes but I, unbeknownst to you both, did trench someone's yard and well on the return. :huh Yep, I was in back and a flat, sharp left hander that had the water (oil?) that some vehicle had been spilling for a couple of miles.

This sounds a lot worse than it actually was. Puckered the rear brake which slid, stood her up and just started laughing as I rode it straight! It was a giant flat 2+ acre front yard completely level with the road; and with some drainage issues to boot. I did some fresh irrigation troughing to assist the vegetation in the Spring! :evil

    Again soon!

I noticed you dropped back at one point Tim, and wondered if something had gone awry! I figured you stopped to gaze longingly at a cow or some other barnyard animal. :lol3

Nice ride Monte! One of these days I'll memorize that convoluted route back from Ocoee...as usual I just locked onto the tail of your Tiger and let'er rip.

    There, I posted.

It took me a couple of years to figure out the route to Ocoee from East brainerd. The good thing is I now have about 6 different variations of it. Man, there is a bunch of roads in southern Bradley County. I'll go with you guys next time.

looks like you guys had some fun. soon I'll get up there to do a bit of riding with ya'll. I did get out to a bit of single track yesterday, so that was a plus since I'll be off the bike for a few weeks. :( Luckily single track on a big bike keeps you pretty warm!

    A bit off topic, but.....

Anyone here involved in emergency management and/or volunteer public safety, specifically fire department or paramedic services?

Or perhaps know someone who is that you can put me in touch with?

I'm beginning to set the stage for relocation down there with you animals and could use some first hand information about moving my licenses and certifications from Maryland to Tennessee.

You bet. I really need to put some miles on the 1190. I'd like to do some road mileage (yecch).

Well dangit... maybe I should've waited until Monday to tear into this Tiger seat recovering project. I hope y'all wont be too embarrassed to seen with a bike that has just a foamy joke for a seat as my upholstery skills just aren't up to snuff.:cry Bundy at Seat Concepts said it would be easy peasy.:rofl Howabout meetup time of 11am at the usual spot?

I put a Seat Concepts seat on my XLR. The key is using a pneumatic staple gun. I know SC says it can be done with a manual staple gun, but I didn't have any luck. Its a 10 minute project with the pneumatic. I'll be around Saturday if you wanna use it.

Grant's Auto Trim on Broad in Chattanooga does a great job with stuff like that.
