Looks like my parts should be all in, and enough time for me to reassemble for the first week of July. That'll make 12 weeks. Having been terrible before, I'm sure to be unbearably bad once I get back on... Plus gaining all that weight over that time drinking beer and eating tacos isn't going to help either.

Assuming I get everything together, anyone up for a fumbling shakedown on the 15th? Location, Prentice Cooper or Houston valley?

I can show you some stuff. I've only lived here a year now, but I make it a habit to find all the spots. I know some stuff in your area. Unfortunately, I won't be around for the next 6 weeks. I work seasonally in Alaska. I'll be back August first and hungry to ride.

Let me know a few days/week til you're ready...we'll ride. Having done some of the PC trails just once, I'm definitely open to going back there soon. I did hate the gravel in some spots though.

Spectated at a SORCS event today in Sewanee Tn. My first time to witness the races live. Fun stuff. Cool to see folks over 50 (like me) racing. Not that I'm looking to race, but I just loved the pace of it all.

Came home (live in a slightly rural subdivision where it's ok to zip up the street and back w/o a helmet sort of place) and threw a leg over the kato. No time to go anywhere just putzing around. Forgot about a larger limb as I went behind the shed. Now this limb's diameter is probably a whopping 4" :deal. But I've just been to an offroad racing event...and I watched (can't believe I did this) the Erzberg rodeo for 4 hours a few days ago. Will I let this branch intimidate me! No! I will not. With all trappings of a suburbanites backyard (trees, firepit, stuff that needs thrown away! and more) surrounding me, I thought WWJD (what would Jarvis do). Ok, I didn't really think that. So I throttled her til the front wheel was over a foot off the ground! I rode over that branch hearing the cracking sounds that signaled submission to my newfound prowess. I did a couple victory laps around my house...on my finely mown lawn before settling in to my favorite spot to write on the internet.

I'd be up for a ride on the 15th. I'm free at the moment assuming nothing changes.

I'm not going to be able to commit till I get it back together. I also changed to a wreckloose clutch, so some break in will be needed. Might be an afternoon ride.
Of coarse, I might just steal some poor bastards bike if it's not terribly muddy in the event that I don't get the princess in order by then.

I raced that one last year. Do it, it's great experience.

Ok. Even though I can't ride trails very often, I'm probably a budding intermediate.

So, in my search for close riding areas to me, I've twice come upon trails with multiple deep ruts that kinda make me nervous. Once I was alone; once with my even less experienced son.

Anyhow, I'm just wondering how you might deal with the ruts. Some of the ruts today were 2-3' deep.

    Thanks,
    John

Gonna head back down to Prentice Cooper Friday afternoon with my son.
    Where else you all riding?

Seems like I'm building a reputation for myself for having terrible riding skills, leading to breakdowns...

    Pinch flat today.

And I embarrassingly was stupid enough to leave the house without tools, or patch kit.

Big thanks to @Mojo-Jojo for pretty much doing it all for me.

    Flake,
Did you get a new scooter?? Tomorrow, a buddy and I are riding up Haley Rd from the bottom to a great rock climbing area there somewhere at Prentice Cooper. You wanna ride and climb?? I have an extra harness and shoes!

I did. It's a decade old, runs on carbs, a bit too tall and barley able to get into tripple digit speeds.... I'd have a hard time keeping up....

I'm already committed to watching my daughter and changing the brakes on my 4runner.

But ya, that sounds like lots of fun. I like climbing on stuff.

The next race is in 5 weeks. After that, I should be pretty open for fun.

Anyone up for a terrible and slow ride on some gravel this upcoming Friday or Saturday?
