scooter anyone ever heard of bash plates to protect the engine? Considering that it all hanges out back there I don't think that anything is made to protect the engine if your taking your scooter off road.

I've personally never heard of them. I can't imagine it would be too difficult to make one your self though.

I've got bash plates on my dual sport bikes but I doubt that anyone makes them for scooters, except maybe for a Ruckus or Zuma. You will probably need to custom make it.

I would think that in most situations since the drive train pivots with the suspension (at least on my old Vespa) that the obstacle would hit the drivetrain and/or rear tire and in turn lift the drivetrain out of harms way.

Now that would not be true if you're jumping it onto boulders, but if you're doing that I'd be wondering if you were using the right tool for the job. :D

This thread has photos of a skid plate made for a Ruckus- maybe it'll give you some ideas on how to fabricate something...

The motor on this Electric trials Bike is mounted up out of much of harm's way but crafting a bash plate should present few problems.

I was thinking of welding a plate in between the legs of my center stand for a little bit of protection.
